(CT) - On the morning of June 24, Can Tho University (CTU) held a graduation ceremony for 29 new PhDs and 464 new Masters; bringing the total number of PhDs and Masters trained by the University to 319 PhDs and 13,438 Masters.

Since 1982, CTU has started postgraduate training. During this period, the Ministry of Education and Training assigned the school to train doctoral students with 2 majors: Microbiology and Agrochemistry - Soil. In 1993, the school trained the first graduate course, with 4 majors: Agronomy, Animal Husbandry, Veterinary Medicine and Ecology. To date, CTU has 51 majors and majors training at master's level, 21 majors and majors training at doctoral level; with a scale of 2,299 graduate students and postgraduate students. Of which, there are 233 graduate students and 2,066 postgraduate students, of which 14 are postgraduate students from 8 countries around the world.
Speaking at the ceremony, Prof. Dr. Ha Thanh Toan, Rector of CTU, emphasized: The University is interested in and considers postgraduate training as a key task in the current period, aiming to improve the qualifications of staff in general and lecturers at universities and colleges in particular in the Mekong Delta. The University has invested in expanding training majors and in 51 majors and majors for master's degree training, there are 2 majors trained in English and 3 majors under the Japanese ODA Project; in 21 majors for doctoral training, there is 1 major trained in English. In the coming time, the University is committed to continuing to innovate training programs, improve training efficiency, connect with the labor market, expand many training majors according to social needs, strive to improve teaching quality better and better to achieve international postgraduate training standards on par with universities in the region.
On this occasion, CTU awarded 3 new PhDs with outstanding achievements in scientific research and international publications.
