The University of Law, Hue University, was formerly the Faculty of Law of Hue University, established in 1957. In 1990, the Department of Law of Hue University (now Hue University of Sciences) was established; in 2000, the Faculty of Law of Hue University of Sciences was established on the basis of the Department of Law.

In 2009, the Faculty of Law under Hue University was established on the basis of separation from the Faculty of Law under the University of Sciences. On March 3, 2015, the Prime Minister issued Decision No. 274/QD-TTg to establish the University of Law, Hue University. Since then, the School has become one of the prestigious centers for training and researching specialized legal sciences in the Central Highlands and the whole country.

During the process of construction and development, the University of Law has continuously improved the quality of training, scientific research, community service, legal services, and policy consulting with the aim of becoming one of the leading higher education institutions, research centers, and technology transfer centers in the legal field of the country.

The school currently has a team of highly qualified and professional managers who can meet the requirements of the task. The school also creates favorable conditions for lecturers to improve their professional qualifications at prestigious training institutions at home and abroad. Thanks to that, the quality of the staff, especially lecturers, has been significantly improved.

In 2015, the total number of permanent staff and lecturers of the School was 71, including 02 Associate Professors, 12 PhDs, 48 ​​Masters and 11 Bachelors; by September 2024, the number of staff and lecturers had increased to 171, including 05 Associate Professors; 39 PhDs; 113 Masters and 15 Bachelors.

Many lecturers of the School have studied and researched in advanced countries around the world, and are able to use foreign languages ​​fluently to work directly with foreign experts. From there, the University of Law, Hue University becomes a model for domestic and foreign higher education institutions to visit and exchange experiences.

With a tradition of nearly 70 years of undergraduate training in Law and more than 15 years of postgraduate training, the University of Law, Hue University has awarded undergraduate degrees to thousands of students, graduate students and researchers. Every year, the employment rate of graduates is always over 90%.

Currently, the School offers multi-level training, including: 01 PhD program in Economic Law; 02 Master's programs (Economic Law and Theory and History of State and Law); 02 undergraduate programs in Law and Economic Law. In particular, in order to meet the demand for high-quality human resources, in line with the integration trend, since the beginning of 2022, the School has built 02 bilingual Vietnamese - English training programs for Law and Economic Law; at the same time, the School is developing an application-oriented undergraduate training program for pilot application in the 2025 - 2026 school year. During the training process, the School focuses on establishing a connection system with foreign companies and organizations, creating conditions for students and trainees to participate in internships and practical experience in the fields of international commercial arbitration, practicing law, international litigation, etc.

To date, 100% of the University's undergraduate training programs have been recognized as meeting the standards prescribed in Circular 04/2016 of the Ministry of Education and Training.

In parallel with training and research activities, the University of Law, Hue University also proactively seeks and expands its links with businesses to introduce jobs to students right after graduation. The school has established a cooperative network with many agencies, organizations, law offices, and domestic and foreign businesses to organize internship programs, career seminars, job fairs, career counseling, etc. to help students access the real working environment right from their school days. From there, it helps students have the necessary career orientation and preparation before entering the labor market.

In addition, the school also pays special attention to the study encouragement work. Thousands of meaningful scholarships have been awarded to students with excellent academic achievements and students with difficult circumstances. This is not only a recognition, but also a great source of encouragement, adding motivation for students to continue their efforts to conquer knowledge.

In addition to formal training, the School also organizes regular education forms such as: second university degree; part-time university; articulation from intermediate and college to university at the School and affiliated institutions; opening short-term training classes, certificate training... In addition, the School also strengthens the training of high-quality human resources for Laos. In 2020 - 2022, the School trained and awarded degrees to 157 students, making an important contribution to the friendly relationship between Vietnam and Laos.

During the period 2015 - 2024, the School organized 09 national scientific conferences, 05 international scientific conferences and welcomed 17 foreign expert delegations from Japan, France, China, the United States, Thailand, Estonia... to participate in conferences, teach, and exchange expertise with the School's lecturers and students.

The University's scientific and technological research activities have carried out 309 scientific topics at all levels, published 1,231 articles in international and domestic journals scored by the State Council of Professors, including 50 articles in the Wos/Scopus category; published 104 books (textbooks, monographs, reference books, learning materials).

Currently, Hue University of Law is taking on the role of "Chairman of the Vietnamese Law School Network for the 2024-2027 term" and is ranked by Times Higher Education (THE) in the Law major of Hue University of Law in the ranking (group 601+) in the Social Sciences; Business - Economics group. The school strives to become a comprehensive autonomous university by 2030, affirming its brand in the top law training in Vietnam.

With its achievements, the School has been honored to receive many Certificates of Merit from the Minister of Education and Training, Director of Hue University... for many consecutive years.

On the occasion of the 10th anniversary of its establishment, the University of Law was honored to receive the Third Class Labor Medal awarded by the President. This is a source of encouragement and motivation for the school to continuously strive and continue to write proud pages of history.
