Since the beginning of the year, Ha Tinh Power Company has detected 51 cases of electricity fraud, recovering 94,649 kWh of electricity, equivalent to nearly 254 million VND.
According to the Ha Tinh Power Company, the units that detected the largest number of violations include: Ky Anh Power Company, which detected and handled 13 cases, recovering 25,239 kWh of electricity, equivalent to 69.6 million VND; Loc Ha Power Company, which detected and handled 9 cases, recovering 11,072 kWh of electricity, equivalent to nearly 21.3 million VND; Thach Ha Power Company, which detected and handled 9 cases, recovering 5,917 kWh of electricity, equivalent to 16.8 million VND; Cam Xuyen Power Company, which detected and handled 6 cases, recovering 10,723 kWh of electricity, equivalent to 33.8 million VND...
A customer in Cam Xuyen district illegally connected a voltage divider directly to the power supply in the meter box, bypassing the metering system.
Notably, some units, despite having a small number of cases, had high amounts of recovered electricity, indicating that the fraudulent electricity usage was complex and occurred over a considerable period of time.
Specifically: Duc Tho Power Company detected and handled 2 cases, recovering 11,746 kWh of electricity, equivalent to 35 million VND; Huong Son Power Company detected and handled 2 cases, recovering 9,056 kWh of electricity, equivalent to 26.6 million VND; Ha Tinh City Power Company detected and handled 2 cases, recovering 9,259 kWh of electricity, equivalent to 23.4 million VND...
Observations indicate that electricity fraud in the area has mainly involved directly connecting to the voltage divider in the meter box, bypassing the metering system; reversing the polarity of the meter and using a different neutral wire; and tampering with the metering system.
Electricity fraud is a violation of the law, not only causing losses to state assets but also leading to power outages and electrical accidents. Therefore, Ha Tinh Power Company will continue to promote public awareness campaigns on electricity usage; strengthen inspections of the power grid day and night, periodically and unexpectedly, especially on power lines and substations with high electricity loss rates, to promptly detect cases of electricity theft; and continue to invest in modern equipment to detect abnormalities in customers' electricity usage.
Electricity workers are increasing regular and unscheduled inspections of the power grid to promptly detect any abnormalities.
Furthermore, local authorities and relevant agencies need to take more decisive action to promptly detect and strictly handle cases of deliberate electricity fraud. This will create a deterrent effect in the community and prevent unfortunate electrical accidents in the area.
