(Baothanhhoa.vn) - From the movement of skilled farmers in production and business, farmers have replicated the "Farmers Teaching Farmers" model, implementing vocational training through direct hands-on guidance from successful farming households, combining theory with practice at the model farm. This allows them to support each other in production development, build collective economic models, develop production along the value chain, and connect with consuming businesses towards sustainable commodity development.

The deer antler farming model of Mr. Le Van Lam's family in Dong Sinh village, Phu Nhuan commune, generates hundreds of millions of dong in income each year.

From this movement, many exemplary individuals and outstanding role models have emerged, representing the diligent and creative spirit, self-reliance, and self-improvement of the peasant class. They are determined to rise up and become wealthy, leading the way in economic restructuring, breaking the monoculture in agricultural production, and, along with land consolidation, boldly applying scientific and technological advancements to farming and livestock breeding, investing in expanding production and business. This has led to the establishment of enterprises or cooperatives that have been awarded the title of Outstanding Vietnamese Farmer or Exemplary Agricultural Cooperative by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Farmers' Association . On average, the movement of farmers competing to excel in production and business has attracted nearly 300,000 farmer households to register for the competition each year, with more than 200,000 households achieving the title of excellent farmer households at various levels. In 2024, the number of excellent farmer households with incomes of 200-300 million VND was over 68,000; those with incomes of 300-500 million VND was over 17,000; those with incomes of 500 million to 1 billion VND was over 6,000; those with incomes of 1 billion to 5 billion VND was over 756; and those with incomes of 5 billion to 10 billion VND was 279.

Mr. Le Dinh Sy, residing in Dong Hon village, Nhu Thanh commune, has boldly invested in building and developing a guinea pig breeding model. The model is impressive due to its scale, number of animals, and significant investment in the breeding facilities. In 2021, Mr. Sy invested over 100 million VND in building breeding facilities. Through careful care and nurturing, his guinea pig herd has reproduced successfully and is healthy, free from disease. His family then expanded the farm model and built more breeding pens. With his experience in guinea pig breeding and his understanding of this species, Mr. Sy has achieved success, and the number of animals in his herd is gradually increasing. Currently, he is continuing to expand the scale and breed his guinea pig herd to 300 animals to meet market demand. To date, his guinea pig herd has a good market, with many restaurants inside and outside the province regularly ordering commercial guinea pigs. It is estimated that this model generates hundreds of millions of VND in income for his family each year. This achievement is not only due to successful cultivation techniques but also to the dedication of an enthusiastic and bold farmer. The model has proven highly effective and has been replicated, allowing people in the commune to learn from it, develop their family economies , and increase their income.

For example, the deer farming model of Mr. Le Van Lam's family in Dong Sinh village, Phu Nhuan commune, involves raising over 50 deer. Currently, fresh deer antlers sell for 15-18 million VND/kg. Besides selling fresh antlers, Mr. Lam also breeds deer to produce offspring. After 3-4 months, the deer can be sold for 12-15 million VND/animal (male deer) and 8-10 million VND/animal (female deer). Each year, he sells dozens of deer offspring to the market, generating hundreds of millions of VND in income.

The movement of farmers competing in excellent production and business, uniting to help each other get rich and sustainably reduce poverty has encouraged and motivated members and farmers to uphold the tradition of solidarity and mutual assistance, helping poor households rise out of poverty through various forms: providing capital, seeds, labor, agricultural supplies, technical guidance, and business methods; sharing the difficulties and losses of people in areas affected by natural disasters such as floods, droughts, and epidemics. On average, each year, the associations at all levels have mobilized excellent farmer households to create jobs for more than 238,000 workers, including 199,000 workers with regular jobs and more than 39,000 workers with seasonal jobs; providing capital, seeds, livestock, and production experience to 8,000 farmer households, contributing to supporting and helping 4,000 disadvantaged farmer households escape poverty. Actively participate in the New Rural Development program and social and social welfare activities in the locality.

According to Ms. Vu Thi Thanh Xuan, Deputy Head of the Standing Committee of the Farmers' Affairs Committee of the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee: “The above results affirm that the movement of farmers competing in excellent production and business, uniting to help each other get rich and sustainably reduce poverty has been developing strongly and spreading throughout the province, in all fields of agricultural, forestry, handicraft and service production; it has positively impacted the province's socio-economic development program; the material and spiritual lives of farmers have been improved and enhanced, the security, political situation and social order of the province have been maintained, and rural areas are becoming increasingly prosperous and beautiful.”
