| Ms. Phuong's VACR model has proven effective. |
Suitable model
Sharing about her early days in business, Ms. Phuong confided: "Many years ago, my family faced many difficulties. That made me constantly worry and think about how to help my family escape hunger and poverty, and move towards a more prosperous and happy life."
From these concerns, she soon realized that developing the household economy was a practical way to help women take control of their lives, increase their income, stabilize their lives, and contribute to building a sustainable new rural area.
Furthermore, as a responsible Party member, Ms. Phuong refused to accept her circumstances. With that mindset, she and her husband proactively sought out and learned about production knowledge and experience through books, newspapers, official information channels, and practical examples from effective models both within and outside the locality. In 2021, the couple discussed and agreed to implement the integrated economic model "Garden - Pond - Livestock - Forest" (VACR) on their family's land.
The model is well-structured and suitable to the local natural conditions and existing strengths. On their large plot of land, the family grows many types of fruit trees combined with short-term vegetables, improving daily meals while creating a regular source of income. She also raises various types of fish such as grass carp, tilapia, and catfish to diversify the supply for the market. At the same time, they raise 15 cows, nearly 200 pigs, nearly 3,000 poultry, and 190 rabbits. The feed for livestock and poultry mainly utilizes agricultural by-products, helping to reduce production costs. In addition, the couple has planted 4 hectares of hybrid acacia trees, which are now ready for harvest.
Spreading the spirit of overcoming difficulties.
Thanks to hard work, perseverance, and a continuous pursuit of new farming and livestock techniques, Ms. Phuong's family's VACR (Vegetable, Animal, and Crop) model has initially yielded significant economic benefits, with an average annual income of nearly 200 million VND. The model has maximized the use of local land and labor, creating stable employment for family members while contributing to the supply of clean and safe food for the family and the community.
“I am constantly learning and exploring ways to transform existing resources into sustainable value. At the same time, I hope that my journey and my ‘small’ achievements will be a source of inspiration and motivation for many women to strive to develop production, not only for the goal of sustainable poverty alleviation but also to rise to wealth,” Ms. Phuong said.
Ms. A Moong Thi Hau, Vice Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of A Luoi 1 commune and Chairwoman of the Women's Union of A Luoi 1 commune, affirmed: "Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong Phuong is a typical example of women in A Luoi 1 commune in terms of overcoming difficulties, daring to think and act. Her family's VACR (Vegetable, Animal, and Crop) model not only brings clear economic benefits but also has a ripple effect, creating motivation for many women members to learn from and follow, contributing positively to poverty reduction and socio-economic development of the locality."
The story of overcoming hardship by Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong Phuong is a vivid testament to the willpower, resilience, and aspirations of women in mountainous regions, contributing to affirming the image of the modern woman: dynamic, creative, confident, and in control of her own life.
