Patiently connecting hair strands to complete a wig according to the teacher's instructions, working meticulously and precisely, the students here have changed every day in a more positive direction, ending their illness, mastering a profession and soon returning to their families and society.
In the middle of the vocational training, the break gong rang loudly, students rushed out from the vocational and production workshops, and performed special exercises. Captain Tran Anh Ninh, Deputy Head of the Dien Bien Province Drug Rehabilitation Center, shared: The exercises combined with movements and music help students become more alert, more comfortable mentally, contributing to improving both mental and physical health. After finishing the exercises, students are more excited and refreshed to continue with their lessons and daily work.
Located on a plot of land of about 60,000m2 in Thanh Luong commune (old), now Thanh Nua commune, the Dien Bien drug rehabilitation facility still faces many infrastructure difficulties. Being located close to the border and near residential areas, it is easy for loopholes to arise that can lead to students escaping. Receiving the facility from the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs, the leaders of Dien Bien Provincial Police came to the site to conduct a field survey, and assigned the Drug Crime Investigation Police Department to directly take on the new task - state management of drug rehabilitation and post-rehabilitation - and be responsible for operating the facility. The Mobile Police force was assigned to guard, patrol, and control. The officers and employees of the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs who wished to stay and continue their work also enthusiastically cooperated with the police force. With a regular, well-trained team of the Public Security sector in charge, in just a short period of time, the facility has made significant changes. Captain Tran Anh Ninh said: The facility's characteristics are that most of the students are ethnic minorities, including a significant number of illiterate or re-illiterates. Therefore, the facility organized literacy classes to help students gain confidence in reintegrating into the community... Three sessions a week, the students are all adults, have experienced a period of being bound and confused by addictions, have gradually gone from being shy and struggling, to gradually opening their hearts, happily and enthusiastically "wrestling" with words... Negative thoughts such as opposing, causing trouble or running away are all eliminated from the beginning, the students themselves are clearly aware of their responsibilities to themselves, to medical treatment, vocational training and also their responsibilities and duties to their families and relatives... This atmosphere has made the relatives of the students feel relieved and satisfied when they come to visit: "Just looking at the green police uniform makes me feel secure"...
Nearly 500 students being treated at the Dien Bien Provincial Drug Rehabilitation Center are divided into many vocational training classes, depending on the wishes and abilities of each individual: learning to make wigs, weave bamboo and rattan, or students who are familiar with and more interested in gardening and raising animals are also given many labor opportunities, as a method to support the treatment process. Every hour, every day, every month during the treatment and study period at the Dien Bien Provincial Drug Rehabilitation Center will be a memorable memory, creating meaningful luggage to help students return to normal life...
