80 cases were processed, and 45 vehicles were temporarily seized for violations.

In mid-December 2025, the atmosphere surrounding the SEA Games 33 football tournament, with consecutive matches of the Vietnamese men's and women's national football teams, stirred up intense emotions among fans in the ancient capital city. However, under the guise of supporting football, some individuals took advantage of the situation to gather and drive motorcycles recklessly, causing a disruption to public order and posing a potential risk of traffic accidents.

Anticipating the situation, the 1311 Task Force of the Hue City Police (comprising the Criminal Police, Mobile Police, Traffic Police, Narcotics Police, and police from various wards) coordinated with other forces to patrol and set up checkpoints to handle reckless driving and dangerous maneuvers on streets throughout the night of the SEA Games 33 men's football final between Vietnam and Thailand. As a result, they promptly detected and handled 80 violations, temporarily seizing 45 vehicles, contributing to ensuring traffic safety, urban order, and public order in the area.

Earlier, on the night of the SEA Games women's football final between Vietnam and the Philippines, the 1311 patrol team of the Hue City Police was also deployed from 8 PM to the early morning of the next day in the following wards: Thuan Hoa, Phu Xuan, An Cuu, Vy Da...

Notably, through intelligence gathering, Task Force 1311, in coordination with the Criminal Police Department and relevant ward police, investigated a group of individuals exhibiting disruptive behavior. This group frequently carried weapons, drove motorcycles recklessly, and posted videos on TikTok; they also showed signs of involvement in recent property theft cases.

As a result, the authorities brought 14 individuals (aged 13 to 18) to the police station for questioning and seized 5 dangerous weapons including switchblade knives, swords, Japanese swords, homemade knives, etc. At the police station, the suspects confessed to all their violations and admitted to committing 4 motorcycle thefts in the area from August 2025 to the present.

A criminal police officer directly involved in the investigation and arrest process, part of the 1311 Task Force of the Hue City Police, shared: “The suspect is very young, reckless, and heavily influenced by social media. If we hadn't intervened in time, the consequences could have been very serious. We determined that we had to handle the case early, both as a deterrent and for general prevention.”

Prevent the formation of hotspots of security and public order issues.

The Hue City Police Department stated that they proactively identified potential risks and accurately assessed the evolution of crime immediately after the implementation of the two-tiered local government system; from there, they selected and deployed appropriate operational measures. The attacks focused on emerging criminal groups that accounted for a high percentage of the overall crime structure, especially "street" crime and "source" crime.

Based on this, Task Force 1311, the People's Patrol Team, and the Youth Crime Prevention Team continue to operate effectively, maintaining covert patrols from 10 PM to 4 AM daily on key routes. With their regular and proactive presence, many violations of the law have been promptly prevented, preventing the formation of dangerous gangs operating at night, and preventing the emergence of complex hotspots that create negative public opinion.

Thanks to the decisive actions of the Hue City Police, in 2025, social order crimes decreased significantly compared to the same period (down 18.95%); the rate of investigation and discovery of social order cases reached a high level (491/556 cases, reaching 88.31%); and road traffic accidents were significantly reduced across all three criteria…

Speaking at the conference summarizing the work of 2025 and outlining tasks for 2026, held at the end of December, the Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee and Chairman of the People's Committee of Hue City, Nguyen Khac Toan, emphasized: The Hue City Police need to continue to accurately assess and predict the situation from early on and from afar; avoid being passive or surprised, preventing the formation of hotspots of security and order; effectively and decisively combat all types of crime, protecting the peaceful and happy lives of the people. At the same time, they must strike hard at all types of crime, ensuring absolute safety for the 14th National Party Congress, the 16th National Assembly elections, and the elections of People's Councils at all levels for the 2026-2031 term, and in the immediate future, ensuring the safety of the people during the Lunar New Year of the Horse 2026.
