In the journey of gratitude of Quang Ninh youth, the project "Coloring memories" is considered a special highlight. With the aim of restoring at least 100 photos of the martyrs of the Mining Region for free, the Provincial Youth Union coordinated with the Skyline group to conduct propaganda, review, connect with the martyrs' relatives, collect original documents such as old, blurred or out-of-focus photos to restore the portraits of the martyrs.
Launched in March, the project “Coloring Memories” has restored and presented nearly 120 portraits of martyrs. It is expected that by the end of 2025, about 1,000 more portraits will be restored. Mr. Phung Quang Trung, Head of Skyline Group, shared: We do not consider this a job, but a mission. Each photo is a time of gratitude. The most difficult part is restoring the eyes - the "soul" of the face, but it is also the place where we express the most respect.
From the faded memorial photos after many years, the martyrs' faces were restored realistically and vividly, as if they had just returned from a long trip. For the martyrs' relatives, it was not just a photo, but a resurrected memory, a special moment of "reunion" after many years of dreaming. Ly Chu Huy, grandson of People's Armed Forces Hero, martyr Ly A Coong, emotionally shared: When I was a child, every time I looked at my grandfather's old memorial photo, I could only see a few sketches, and his eyes were almost unclear. Today, seeing him clearly as if he were right in front of me, I was truly choked up. For my family, this is a priceless gift.
Not only the project "Coloring memories", in recent years, the gratitude and reciprocation activities of Quang Ninh youth have always been widely, diversely and creatively implemented. Many youth projects and volunteer work such as: Visiting, giving gifts, building "Charity houses", supporting children of martyrs' families... have been carried out regularly. Traditional education activities have also been innovated, bringing history and heroic martyrs closer to union members and young people through the form of podcasts, storytelling videos, seminars, and thematic activities.
In the first 6 months of 2025, the Youth Union at all levels organized thousands of meaningful activities such as: Visiting and presenting hundreds of gifts to war invalids, sick soldiers, and families of martyrs; organizing free medical examination and treatment programs for people with meritorious services; renovating and embellishing hundreds of martyrs' graves and cemeteries in the province. In particular, the youth of the whole province planted more than 242,000 new trees, carried out more than 300 environmental protection activities and maintained hundreds of "Traffic Safety School Gate" models, demonstrating responsibility not only to the deceased, but also to the community and future generations.
The spirit of gratitude is also strongly spread through traditional education activities: Organizing over 7,500 activities, propagating the heroic martyrs; contests to learn about the history of the Party and local history, attracting tens of thousands of union members and young people to participate. Thereby, fostering in the young generation pride and a sense of responsibility to preserve and promote the revolutionary tradition of the homeland of the Mining Region.
Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Youth Union Nguyen Vu affirmed: The work of gratitude will not only stop at commemorative occasions, but will become a regular activity, spreading more widely among union members and youth throughout the province. The Provincial Youth Union plans to promote the digitization of martyrs' data, develop podcasts and videos telling historical stories; at the same time, organize more activities to support children of policy families and people with meritorious services.
Towards the 78th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs Day July 27 (1947-2025), Quang Ninh youth will continue to carry out many meaningful activities such as: Candle lighting ceremony at Ha Tu Martyrs Cemetery, journey "Returning to the source on the land of fire Quang Tri", giving gifts to families of martyrs, war invalids and people with meritorious services, along with many art programs, propaganda and education of revolutionary traditions. With enthusiasm and sense of responsibility, each project and part of the work of Quang Ninh youth today carries deep gratitude to the generation of fathers and brothers - those who have fallen for the Fatherland to have peace, independence and development.
