Young people are embracing a green lifestyle.

During the period 2022-2025, the Ninh Kieu District Youth Union implemented 1,775 youth projects and activities, benefiting the community with over 5.7 billion VND. These included many new and innovative volunteer models such as "Youth Volunteers with 3 Objectives" (for a civilized urban environment, social order and safety, and social welfare), "Youth with Green Spaces," and "Children's Day for Environmental Protection." These models not only beautify the city but also help young people develop green living habits and environmental awareness.

The Ninh Kieu District Youth Union planted trees and ornamental flowers at Tuong Lai School, contributing to building a green, clean, and beautiful school.

According to Mr. Le Trung Hieu, Deputy Secretary of the Ninh Kieu District Youth Union, from 2022 to the present, the district's Youth Union branches have intensified their activities in environmental protection and urban civilization development. The models are increasingly diverse and linked to urban beautification tasks, such as registering to build 150 "Safe - Green - Clean" streets and alleys, of which 37 have been upgraded to meet the criteria of "Civilized - Safe - Green - Clean - Beautiful," and hundreds of campaigns to collect waste and clean the environment. In the Youth Month of 2025 alone, the district's Youth Union branches implemented 29 projects participating in urban civilization development. 100% of ward-level Youth Unions organized environmental protection activities with models such as: "Painting to promote environmental protection messages," "Removing illegal advertising signs," "Civilized - Safe - Green - Clean - Beautiful" streets, and "Residential areas reducing plastic waste."

Youth Union branches have implemented many models to educate members, young people, and students about environmental protection. A prime example is the Cai Khe Ward Youth Union with its "Children's Environmental Protection Day" model. In April 2025, the ward's Youth Union organized two events, attracting over 2,000 children, with typical activities such as "exchanging waste for gifts" (for every kilogram of waste material, students received one gift voucher). The ward's Youth Union also mobilized over 5,000 gifts, with a total value of over 120 million VND. Mr. Lai Phuoc Truong Thanh, Secretary of the Cai Khe Ward Youth Union, said: "This is the 6th time the ward's Youth Union has organized this event, with the goal of educating a green lifestyle, raising awareness of environmental protection, and building a green, clean, and beautiful school environment."

Since 2023, the District Youth Union has launched the "Youth with Green Spaces" model, contributing to building green, clean, and beautiful offices and schools. Accordingly, each Youth Union official and member plants one tree; each unit registers to implement one green space creation project per year. To date, Youth Union members have planted more than 500 trees in offices, schools, and community gathering places. Another example is the "Youth with 3 Volunteers" model (implemented from March 2024 to the present), corresponding to three contents: for a civilized urban environment, social order and safety, and social welfare. Through this model, the district's youth have organized many activities to participate in environmental protection, such as the "Orange Journey" (in coordination withFPT University Can Tho to clean up the environment on roads and canals); "Peak Day for Volunteer Soldiers to Build a Bright, Green, Clean, Beautiful, Civilized, and Safe City" during the Youth Month emulation campaigns and the Summer Youth Volunteer Campaign.

The youth in the district are also dynamic and creative in implementing projects and tasks related to environmental protection, combined with online propaganda, aiming to create a shift in people's awareness of environmental protection and the practice of civilized urban living. Vo Thanh Hiep, Secretary of the Thoi Binh Ward Youth Union, said: “At the end of March 2025, the Ward Youth Union launched a project to paint murals promoting environmental protection along the Rach Ngong 1 bridge and the "Civilized - Safe - Green - Clean" road on Huynh Thuc Khang street. To increase the effectiveness of the propaganda, the Youth Union members created short videos posted on TikTok and other social media platforms, attracting hundreds of views and receiving positive feedback from the people.”

The initiatives and activities of the youth in Ninh Kieu district have contributed to raising awareness among youth union members and the people in implementing a civilized urban lifestyle; affirming the role of youth in participating with the local government in building a cultured and civilized way of life.
