On the afternoon of August 19, the Vietnam Women's Team entered the third-place match against the Thailand Women's Team within the framework of the 2025 Southeast Asian Women's Football Championship. Given the importance of the match, the two teams entered the game very proactively. However, in the first minutes of the match, the visiting team Thailand had a slight advantage in ball control and created significant pressure on the goal of the Vietnam Women's Team.

However, in the face of the resilience of the home team, the Thai Women's Team's attacks failed to achieve their goals. For most of the first half, the two teams played tit for tat with many dangerous situations. The balance of the match was only broken when the first half entered the final minutes.
In the 45th minute, from a pass from a teammate that eliminated the entire Thai defense, striker Hai Yen rushed down and shot the ball into the bottom corner, leaving goalkeeper Pawarisa unable to block it, opening the score for the match.
In the second half, the Thai women's team was forced to push up their attack formation to find an equalizer. However, the visitors' defense was exposed too much, which was exploited by the Vietnamese women's team players, bringing home the second goal.
In the 66th minute, Thu Thao made a precise pass for Huynh Nhu to run up and finish. Although his first shot was blocked by goalkeeper Pawarisa, the captain of the Vietnam team immediately controlled the ball and easily kicked it into the empty net. This was the striker's first goal at this year's AFF Cup.

Just 2 minutes after Huynh Nhu's goal, in the 68th minute, the Thai team's net was breached for the third time. From a cross by Nguyen Thi Van into the penalty area, eliminating the entire Thai defense, Bich Thuy entered the penalty area and accurately volleyed the ball to raise the score to 3-0.
Conceding three consecutive goals, the Thai women's team almost lost all chance of winning the bronze medal. All the visitors could do was score an honorary goal in the 87th minute thanks to Wirunya Kwenkasikum.
Closing 90 minutes of determined competition, the Vietnamese women's team won 3-1, thereby winning third place and a bronze medal.
