Vietnam women's team 'annihilates' Maldives

Despite fielding a reserve squad, the Vietnamese women's team easily demonstrated their superior skill level compared to Maldives and defeated their opponent in the first half with 6 goals scored.

Ngan Thi Van Su, Nguyen Thi Bich Thuy, Nguyen Thi Van, Nguyen Thi My Anh, and Ngoc Minh Chuyen scored for the Vietnamese women's team in the 7th, 11th, 14th, 25th, 30th, and 44th minutes, respectively. The first two goals were a brace from Van Su. All six goals were scored inside the Maldives penalty area.

In the second half, head coach Mai Duc Chung brought on key players like Huynh Nhu and Pham Hai Yen. The Vietnamese women's team still easily dominated the game and scored another goal.

In the 66th minute, Hai Yen scored with a dangerous header from Nguyen Thi Duyen's cross, bringing the score to 7th and sealing a 7-0 victory for the Vietnamese women's team. In the remaining minutes, the Vietnamese women's team launched beautiful attacking moves but unfortunately could not find the net again.

The most regrettable moment was Huỳnh Như's missed penalty in the 90+7th minute. Her shot hit the post, much to the disappointment of the coaching staff and her teammates.

With a resounding victory over Maldives, the Vietnamese women's team took the top spot in Group E with 3 points and a goal difference of +7.

Coach Mai Duc Chung and his team will face UAE and Guam in their remaining two matches on July 2nd and July 5th at Viet Tri Stadium.

UAE women's national team coach: We will play a committed game against Vietnam.

In the previous match, the UAE women's team, with a squad of local amateur players, managed to hold Guam to a 0-0 draw.

"I'm eagerly waiting to see how my players will perform in the match against the Vietnamese women's team. This is the toughest opponent in the group, and facing Vietnam will show where the UAE stands on the world map of women's football. Therefore, we will give our best possible performance," said UAE women's team head coach Vera Pauw.
