Despite playing with a reserve team, the Vietnamese women's team easily showed the difference in class compared to Maldives and defeated their opponents in the first half with 6 goals scored.
In turn, Ngan Thi Van Su, Nguyen Thi Bich Thuy, Nguyen Thi Van, Nguyen Thi My Anh and Ngoc Minh Chuyen scored for the Vietnamese women's team in the 7th, 11th, 14th, 25th, 30th and 44th minutes. Of these, the first two goals were doubles by Van Su. All 6 goals were scored in the Maldives' penalty area.
In the second half, head coach Mai Duc Chung sent key players like Huynh Nhu and Pham Hai Yen onto the field. The Vietnamese women's team still easily dominated the one-sided game and scored another goal.
In the 66th minute, Hai Yen headed a dangerous ball from Nguyen Thi Duyen's cross, bringing the 7th goal, also the goal that sealed the 7-0 victory for the Vietnamese women's team. In the remaining minutes, the Vietnamese women's team exchanged beautiful attacks but unfortunately could not penetrate the opponent's net again.
The most regrettable of these was Huynh Nhu's missed penalty kick in the 90+7 minute. Her shot hit the post, leaving the coaching staff and teammates disappointed.
With a big win over Maldives, the Vietnamese women's team took the top spot in Group E with 3 points and a goal difference of +7.
Coach Mai Duc Chung and his team will meet UAE and Guam in the remaining two matches on July 2 and July 5 at Viet Tri Stadium.
