France team expects PSG star, Spanish coach praises Yamal

(Dan Tri) - French national team coach Didier Deschamps praised young talent Desire Doue after his brilliant performance in the 2024-25 Champions League to help PSG win the championship for the first time.

France will face Euro 2024 champions Spain in the semi-finals of the 2024-25 UEFA Nations League. Coach Deschamps said that despite the absence of key defenders such as William Saliba, Dayot Upamecano and Jules Kounde, he still expected the talent of Desire Doue to help France win.

According to the 56-year-old strategist, Doue possesses impressive dribbling skills, tireless movement and a maturity rarely seen at the age of 20. All of these factors are the result of a process that has been systematically built since the early days of his career.

“I am not surprised at all. He did very well at Rennes before moving to Paris Saint Germain (PSG), which required him to go through many stages of development and he did it all,” coach Deschamps said of Doue.

In addition to Doue, the French team's attack also includes Kylian Mbappe and Ousmane Dembele, who contributed greatly to PSG's Champions League title.

“Dembele has improved a lot compared to before, he deserves to win the Golden Ball this year after a brilliant season with PSG. This type of striker has a sharp style of play so he will cause Spain's defense many difficulties,” coach Deschamps shared before the match.

Like his counterpart, coach Luis de la Fuente also has certain expectations for young players, especially 17-year-old talent Lamine Yamal. Spain has a squad with many stars such as Nico Williams, key midfielder Pedri and striker Samu Aghehowa.
