According to My Switzerland, Stoosbahn (or Standseilbahn Schwyz-Stoos) is a mountain railway connecting the Hintere Schlattli area (in the canton of Schwyz, near Muotatal) with the mountain village of Stoos - where there are no cars.
The new line was put into operation on December 15, 2017, replacing the old line that existed since 1933.
At 1,740m long, the Stoosbahn overcomes a height difference of 744m, with a maximum gradient of up to 110%, equivalent to a 47.7-degree angle. This is a record number that helps the line be recognized by the Guinness World Records as the steepest mountain train in the world .

To conquer this slope, the system must pass through 3 tunnels and cross 2 bridges amidst the rugged terrain of the Alps.
What makes a special impression on visitors is the cylindrical cabin design. Each cabin is equipped with an automatic rotation mechanism, helping the floor to always maintain a balanced state. Even though the train climbs a nearly vertical slope, passengers still feel comfortable as if they were standing on the ground.
According to Standseilbahn , Stoosbahn reaches a maximum speed of 10m/s, shortening the journey to only about 7 minutes. The operating capacity is estimated at 1,500 passengers/hour/each way. The round-trip fare for the train is 23.3 Swiss Francs (about 772,000 VND).
The total operating capacity of the train is said to be equivalent to 250 escalators operating at the same time. The project contributes to making the Stoos Mountains an attractive destination on the international tourist map.

Tourists can arrive at Schwyz station and then take a 20-minute bus ride to Stoosbahn station. From there, it is just a few minutes on the steepest train in the world, with spectacular mountain views and the village of Stoos before their eyes.
Located at an altitude of 1,300m above sea level, surrounded by the majestic Alps, Stoos offers a poetic landscape with green meadows in summer and pure white snow in winter.
From the top of Fronalpstock at 1,922m, visitors can admire the panoramic view of the emerald green Lake Lucerne, the rolling mountains and small villages hidden in the valley below.

Not only famous for its scenery, Stoos is also a paradise for outdoor activities. In winter, this place attracts tourists with a ski slope system of dozens of kilometers long, suitable for both beginners and professional athletes.
When the weather warms up, visitors can enjoy hiking, mountain climbing, mountain biking or boat tours on Lake Lucerne. For those looking for relaxation, Stoos also has many hotels, small resorts and traditional spas, offering a relaxing holiday experience.
The appearance of Stoosbahn has brought the once-quiet mountain village back strongly on the tourist map, becoming an unmissable stop for tourists who love nature and unique experiences.
