Meanwhile, Nam Dinh attracted attention when using an “all-Western” squad. The superiority in physique and strength of this squad created many challenges for the Vietnamese defense. One-on-one situations, speed races or high balls all became real tests for Coach Kim Sang-sik’s students.

The match can be considered an important “practice” for the Vietnamese team before the rematch with Malaysia in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers in March 2026. Malaysia currently has many naturalized players, often taking advantage of their strength and size to put pressure on their opponents.
