Transfermarkt is renowned as one of the most comprehensive football websites, providing fans with complete information about players worldwide .
Recently, this website organized an interesting online voting contest on social media. 64 countries were selected, divided into a knockout bracket.
Fans can vote for their favorite team by selecting the appropriate emoji as specified by the organizers.
The 64 selected countries include football powerhouses like Argentina, Brazil, Spain, Portugal, as well as Vietnam, Thailand, and Indonesia... The selection criteria were likely based on the passion and size of the fans in each country.
Netizens jokingly call this the "World Cup of heart emojis," perfectly suited for Vietnam to shine with its massive online fanbase.
Whether it was intentional on the part of the organizers or not, the "Southeast Asian classic" appeared right in the round of 64, when Thailand faced Vietnam.

As a result, out of 11,400 participants, Vietnam won overwhelmingly with over 9,400 votes, while Thailand received only 1,400 (almost 1,000 chose the wrong symbol).
Vietnam's opponent in the round of 32 is Germany. The competition is now attracting even more attention.
As a result, Vietnam won overwhelmingly with 56,000 votes, while Germany only received 14,000.
In the round of 16, Vietnam's opponent is Georgia. Although Georgia is a footballing nation that is increasingly developing in Europe, its population is less than 4 million people, so it is obviously not a "suitable opponent" for Vietnam.
Nevertheless, Vietnam won quite narrowly in this round with 80,000 votes, while their opponent had 69,000.
In the quarter-finals, Vietnam faced a truly formidable opponent: Bangladesh, a country with over 170 million people, significantly larger than Vietnam.

After nearly a day of voting, Bangladesh initially dominated Vietnam, before football websites began calling for "unity" to vote for their home team. On social media, fans of clubs like Man United, Liverpool, Real Madrid, Barca, etc., urged people to "put aside their rivalries" and support the national team.
The "showdown" between Vietnamese and Bangladeshi football fans was unexpectedly captivating, attracting over 1.3 million votes. This was also the most popular poll since Transfermarkt began organizing such competitions.
As a result, Vietnam had to reluctantly accept defeat due to the overwhelming number of opponents. The score was Bangladesh - 749,000 and Vietnam - 546,000.
In the other quarter-final match, Indonesia also lost to Tunisia. However, the match between fans of the two countries only attracted 66,000 votes.
In the semi-finals, Bangladesh will face Tunisia, while Argentina will meet Egypt. Fans of Messi and Salah will have a chance to "compete" with each other.
