According to Reuters, the US dollar continued to rise and is heading for its strongest weekly gain in two months, amid growing market sentiment toward the possibility that the Federal Reserve (Fed) may continue to raise interest rates.

The rise in the dollar coincided with a surge in US Treasury yields, with the 10-year yield reaching 4.599% – its highest level in a year.

A series of economic data released this week showed increasing inflationary pressure, as energy supplies through the Strait of Hormuz remain disrupted due to the Middle East conflict. The USD Index rose, after briefly touching 99.302 points. The euro fell 0.39% to 1.1623 USD/euro, its lowest level in five weeks.

Joseph Trevisani, a senior analyst at FXStreet in New York, believes the bond market is leading the trend this time, as investors begin to worry about the risk of rising inflation.

The US dollar's five-day winning streak is its longest since late March, helping the currency gain about 1.5% for the week. Meanwhile, the euro fell about 1.4%, marking its sharpest weekly decline in two months.
