On the morning of August 5, speaking at a press conference ahead of the 2026 Asian U20 Women's Qualifiers, head coach of the Vietnam U20 Women's Team Okiyama Masahiko said that he and his players are ready to aim for the highest goal.

"To prepare for the 2026 Asian U20 Women's Qualifiers, the Vietnam U20 Women's Team has gathered for several weeks, training both domestically and abroad (Japan). Here, they have learned many things. I appreciate the preparation of the whole team and now the team is ready to compete, no one is injured," said Coach Masahiko.

He continued: "The ticket to the last AFC U20 Women's Finals did not put pressure on the Vietnam U20 Women's Team in this qualifying round. Winning a ticket to the finals has always been the team's goal. And we are not worried about how well our opponents prepare, because we are also very serious about our own preparation."

The Vietnam U20 women's team is the host of Group B, and will compete with Singapore, Hong Kong and Kyrgyzstan U20 women's teams on August 6, 8 and 10 respectively at the Youth Football Training Center (VYF), Hanoi .

The 2026 AFC U20 Women's Qualifiers have 8 groups, with the 8 group winners and 3 best second-placed teams, along with host Thailand, participating in the finals next year.

Vietnam's U20 women's team has participated in the U20 Asian Women's Championship 6 times, with the best achievement being reaching the quarter-finals in 2004. In the last 3 tournaments, Vietnam's U20 women's team stopped at the group stage.

Speaking at the press conference, Singapore U20 women's coach Fazrul Nawaz, who used to be a Singapore national team player, expressed great determination.

"When I was a player, I played for the Singapore men's national team and played against Vietnam many times. Each time I met the Vietnamese team, it was a unique experience for me. Vietnam is a country with a developed football background, as evidenced by 3 Southeast Asian championships. I admire that. However, although we respect our opponents in this group, we will still try to play to the best of our ability and let's wait and see how far the team can go," coach Nawaz told Tuoi Tre Online .

On the side of Hong Kong U20 women and Kyrgyzstan U20 women, strategists Ng Wing Kim and Zakirov Nematzhan determined to enter the qualifying round with a learning spirit, promising to bring the best performance to test their abilities after the training sessions.

At 7:00 p.m. on August 6, the Vietnam U20 women's team will play their first match in Group B of the 2026 Asian U20 Women's Qualifiers against the Singapore U20 women's team.
