This is the first piped water supply project implemented in the commune, promising to contribute to improving living conditions for thousands of households.
Meeting the people's expectations
An Viễn commune was established by merging the former An Viễn commune and the former Đồi 61 commune. Previously, neither of these localities had a centralized piped water supply system. In Đồi 61 commune, there was a rural clean water supply project, but the percentage of people using it was low due to frequent limescale buildup.
Mr. Vu Hai Dang (in Tan Phat hamlet, An Vien commune) said that his family and many other households have long used well water for daily life because the area lacks piped water. Although the water appears clear to the naked eye, its quality is unknown. “The well water in this area is quite clear; you don't see any sediment when boiling it, but no one checks its quality. When piped water is available, my family will definitely use it to protect our health,” Mr. Dang shared.

According to Mr. Luong Thanh Hung, Head of Tan Phat Hamlet, the hamlet currently has over 1,000 households and approximately 1,000 rental rooms. Most households pump well water and filter it before use; a few families buy bottled water for cooking. Now that the piped water supply project has commenced in the area, the people are very excited, and the local authorities will actively promote and encourage people to register for the service.
Sharing his thoughts on this issue, Mr. Do Cong Bo, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of An Vien commune, said: "In the commune, there are some areas showing signs of surface and groundwater pollution. People have to treat water themselves using manual methods, which is both costly and risky. Especially during the dry season, water sources decrease, forcing some households to buy water or rely on others. Given this urgent need, the local authorities have proposed investment in a centralized water supply system, which has now been implemented."
According to the plan, the initial phase of the project will supply water to some areas with existing pipelines, then expand to the entire commune. The commune will strengthen its efforts to raise awareness and encourage people to use piped water, contributing to increasing the percentage of households with access to standard-compliant water sources, while simultaneously reducing groundwater extraction.
The An Vien Commune Water Supply System Project commenced on March 20th and is expected to be completed on July 18th, 2026. This is a level IV technical infrastructure project, a group C project, with a designed lifespan of 50 years.
Contributing to infrastructure improvement.
The An Viễn Commune Water Supply System project, recently commenced, has a total budget of over 14.5 billion VND. The main component involves installing nearly 20km of pipelines, passing through areas such as Provincial Road 777, along the railway line, Team B, Vuon Ngo, and numerous residential alleyways. In addition, the project is equipped with comprehensive technical equipment such as air release valves, sediment discharge valves, fire hydrants, and flow meters to ensure safe and stable operation.
According to representatives from the Project Management Board of Dong Nai Water Supply Joint Stock Company, the investor, the project aims to strengthen the water supply source and form a circular water supply network. This will ensure continuous water supply, minimize interruptions, and meet the needs of residents for daily life, services, and production. The company also commits to coordinating with local authorities during construction, strengthening supervision to ensure completion on schedule, and strictly controlling the quality of the project.
The investment in a clean water supply project from a centralized surface water system aims not only to improve the quality of life and protect public health but also to complete the technical infrastructure in An Vien commune, creating a foundation for sustainable socio -economic development. Along with this project, the locality continues to prioritize investment in technical and social infrastructure such as: transportation, electricity, water, telecommunications; schools, medical facilities, and cultural institutions serving the people.
The Resolution of the First Congress of the Dong Nai Provincial Party Committee, term 2025-2030, set a target of having 92% of the urban population supplied with centralized clean water and 85% of the rural population using clean water that meets standards by 2030. Implementing and completing projects like this is a solution to gradually realize the goal of increasing the percentage of households using clean water in the province.
