The Provincial People's Committee held its regular meeting in May 2026.

This morning (May 28, 2026), the Provincial People's Committee held its regular monthly meeting for May 2026 to hear and give opinions on the socio-economic situation in May, key tasks and solutions for June 2026, and other matters within its authority. Mr. Vo Trong Hai – Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee – presided over the meeting. Attendees included representatives from the Standing Committee of the Provincial People's Council, the Provincial National Assembly Delegation; the Vice Chairmen of the Provincial People's Committee; members of the Provincial People's Committee; and leaders of relevant departments, agencies, and units.

Director of the Department of Internal Affairs Nguyen Viet Hung reported on the arrangement of appointing senior specialists as deputy heads of specialized agencies under the Provincial People's Committee.

At the meeting, after hearing the summary report from the Department of Finance, the delegates focused their opinions on key issues such as: the implementation of examinations, public health care; the prevention of IUU fishing; the progress of implementing key projects and disbursing public investment capital; and the inspection and supervision of the exploitation and trading of minerals and construction materials in the area...

Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Vo Trong Hai concluded

Concluding the meeting and assessing the socio-economic development situation in May and the first five months of the year, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Vo Trong Hai emphasized that, despite the many difficulties encountered in the first five months of 2026, with the determination and efforts of the entire political system, the province has achieved many important results in various fields.

Regarding budget revenue, the estimated figure by May 30th is approximately 15,000 billion VND, an increase of about 31% compared to the same period last year. However, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee also noted that, with the current progress, achieving the target of 35,000 billion VND for the year is very difficult, requiring all sectors and localities to continue to make more decisive efforts in the coming time.

In attracting investment, the province has achieved many outstanding results with the implementation of large-scale projects, including the Quynh Lap LNG Thermal Power Plant project and the Vinh - Thanh Thuy expressway project . The province's investment attraction results currently rank second nationwide, demonstrating a strong transformation in Nghe An 's investment and business environment.

In addition, the province successfully organized many important events such as the Lotus Village Festival commemorating the 136th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's birth; received and managed a number of educational and social welfare facilities; and organized the 10th grade entrance exam in a serious and systematic manner...

Emphasizing the need to improve the quality of information and reporting, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee stated that while many areas of the province have been implemented effectively, the compilation and reporting are incomplete and do not reflect the results in a timely manner, affecting the central government's evaluation. Therefore, all levels and sectors need to be more proactive and timely in advising and compiling information, especially in unexpected situations such as natural disasters and extreme weather events.

Regarding future tasks, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested that departments, agencies, and localities focus on overcoming the shortcomings and limitations that have been identified, especially accelerating the disbursement of public investment capital; and resolving difficulties in land clearance work.

The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested a focus on accelerating the progress of key projects; decisively implementing tasks according to the conclusions of the Provincial Steering Committee for Key Projects; and addressing any obstacles to prevent them from affecting project progress. At the same time, it is necessary to promptly address difficulties related to the supply of construction materials such as soil, stone, and sand; and to review mechanisms, norms, and material prices to ensure adequate supply for key projects.

Regarding planning work, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested that departments and agencies urgently complete supplementary planning; strengthen coordination and monitor implementation progress, especially urban and rural planning.

In the field of finance and budget, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee assigned the Department of Finance to direct the review and improvement of the efficiency of budget and public asset utilization; and to decisively address resolutions and projects that are slow to implement, have low efficiency, or are difficult to disburse funds. The development of new mechanisms and policies requires the early participation of the Provincial People's Council Committees and relevant agencies to ensure feasibility and effectiveness.

Regarding surplus assets following the reorganization of administrative units, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested relevant departments and agencies to study options for efficient use, avoiding waste; prioritizing the needs of public service, education, and social welfare.

In the agricultural sector, Comrade Vo Trong Hai instructed the Department of Agriculture and Environment to focus on harvesting the Winter-Spring crop, proactively implement production for the Summer-Autumn and Autumn-Winter crops; prepare sufficient seed and water resources, and strengthen forest fire prevention and control efforts in the context of prolonged intense heat.

In the fields of industry, trade, and tourism, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested that departments and localities proactively remove difficulties for businesses; promote industrial production, and bring projects into operation as soon as possible. The Department of Industry and Trade should strengthen inspection and supervision of the petroleum market to ensure supply for production and daily life; and coordinate with the electricity sector to ensure stable electricity supply during the hot season.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism is stepping up its efforts in publicity, promotion, and attracting tourists.

Regarding education, healthcare, and market management, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested the successful organization of the 2026 high school graduation exam; strengthening supervision of disease prevention and control, ensuring food safety; and strictly handling the situation of counterfeit, fake, and substandard goods.

The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee also emphasized the task of caring for war veterans and martyrs, preparing for activities commemorating the Day of War Invalids and Martyrs; and at the same time, promoting administrative reform, digital transformation, and reorganizing villages and residential areas according to the directives of the Central Government.

Regarding administrative reform indicators, provincial competitiveness, and public administration and governance efficiency, the comrade requested that departments and agencies carefully review the reasons for the decline in scores and rankings; propose specific solutions to overcome these issues and improve the quality of governance.

The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested that departments, agencies, and localities continue to maintain political security and social order; prepare well for the regional defense exercise, creating a stable environment to serve socio-economic development...
