The most visible change is the increased diameter and length, which is related to the Long Neptune cruise missile's ability to carry additional fuel and have a larger warhead. Photo: @ Zbroya.ua.

According to previous reports, a representative of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense confirmed in August 2023 that the Long Neptune missile could be launched from the same platform used to launch the standard Neptune missile. The official, speaking to The War Zone, also highlighted significant upgrades, including a satellite navigation system for mid-course guidance and an infrared guidance system for terminal guidance. Upgrade plans from 2023 include a proposal to increase the warhead size on the Long Neptune cruise missile from 150 kg to 350 kg, although the final specifications have not yet been revealed, according to the Kyiv Post. Photo: @ Zbroya.ua.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy also confirmed in March 2025 that the upgrade of the Long Neptune cruise missile increased the system's range from 300 km listed in the 2020 promotional material to 1,000 km. Photo: @ Zbroya.ua.
