On September 28-29, in Can Tho City, Can Tho Oncology Hospital, Can Tho City Cancer Association, and Vietnam Cancer Association jointly organized the 12th Can Tho Oncology Scientific Conference.
The workshop gathered many leading experts from across the country and provided a lot of new and practical information related to the prevention and effective treatment of cancer in the current period.
Professor, Doctor Nguyen Chan Hung, Honorary President of Vietnam Cancer Association, shared information at the conference.
Dr. Vo Van Kha, Director of Can Tho Oncology Hospital, Chairman of Can Tho City Cancer Association, Vice Chairman of Vietnam Cancer Association, said that currently in cancer treatment, new techniques such as CT-guided biopsy, nuclear medicine, molecular biology, high-frequency ablation, high-dose pressure radiotherapy, targeted therapy... have brought positive results. Breast cancer, cervical cancer, skin cancer, head and neck cancer, oral cancer... can all be prevented, screened, detected early for timely treatment, with positive results.
However, in reality, patients often go to the hospital when the cancer is mostly in the late stages, cannot be operated on and the cost of treatment is high, creating a burden for poor families and difficult circumstances. Therefore, in daily life, when each person discovers abnormal signs in the body, they should quickly go to a medical facility or specialized hospital for examination, screening, diagnosis and timely and effective treatment.
According to Professor, Doctor Nguyen Chan Hung, Honorary President of the Vietnam Cancer Association, cancer can be prevented when people know how to stay away from cigarette smoke, drink less alcohol, eat right, eat healthy (lots of fresh vegetables and fruits, not too salty, too sweet, too fatty, too burnt...), exercise regularly, get enough sleep, sleep well, maintain a good weight, prevent infectious diseases, and get regular screening.
In Vietnam, common cancers include lung, liver, stomach, breast, colon - rectum, and cervix. The cancers with the highest mortality rates, in order, are still lung, liver, breast, stomach, colon - rectum, and cervix.
Modern medicine has the "magic eye" to see cancer through endoscopy, imaging diagnosis, blood tests, molecular diagnosis, and pathological diagnosis.
