Opening the door to the future
Previously, when people thought of vocational training in Bac Quang, they pictured small, cramped classrooms with outdated equipment. Now, the school's appearance has changed. New, spacious practice rooms have been invested in; industrial sewing machines, electrical and plumbing practice models, a standard kitchen, and workshops for repairing motorcycles and cars are all equipped with modern, integrated facilities, effectively meeting the vocational training needs of students.
In the electrical repair workshop, Hung Van Tan, a student of the Pa Then ethnic group from Lu Thuong village, Tan Trinh commune, was busily connecting wires while smiling: “Before, I followed my older brother to work as an assistant, and I didn’t know anything. At the school, the teachers guided me so diligently that now I can do many things. This Tet holiday, when I go back to my village, I will help the villagers repair electrical systems and induction cookers, and then I plan to open a small shop in the commune.” Tan’s dream is also the shared aspiration of many students in remote areas. Thanks to the training center being close to home, the low cost, and the opportunity to learn both general education and vocational skills through the Continuing Education program, the students feel more confident.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Nhat, the teacher in charge of the sewing vocational course, shared: "Last year, the number of students registering for sewing vocational training increased sharply. The students studied very diligently, and many were hired by garment businesses in Bac Quang after graduation, earning stable incomes. At the school, every spring, we organize a skills competition to inspire a passion for the profession. This serves as both a playground and a motivation for the students to develop their skills."
Cultivating ambition for career development.
As spring arrives and trees sprout new leaves, the changes in vocational education at Bac Quang Ethnic Minority Boarding and Continuing Education College are like young shoots growing vigorously. The school places special emphasis on linking with businesses and cooperating with production facilities to ensure students have a practical training environment and clear career opportunities after graduation.
According to Mr. Kieu Ngoc Le, the school principal: "Vocational training in the highlands should not only teach skills but also be linked to job placement. We cooperate with tea processing companies, mechanical workshops, motorcycle repair shops, restaurants, etc., so that students can practice while still in school. Many students are hired immediately after completing the course."
Thanks to its flexible and practical training methods, the school's graduate employment rate consistently exceeds 80%. This is an encouraging figure, especially considering the difficulties young people in mountainous regions face in finding jobs.

Trieu Thi Nga, a student in the garment making class, excitedly shared: "From the very first days of struggling with each stitch in the vocational class, I never thought I would one day be confident enough to work for a garment company in Hanoi . The sewing profession not only gave me a job, but also gave me the belief that with effort, life will always open new doors."
In addition to vocational training linked to businesses, the school also brings skills to rural areas by coordinating with communes to open short-term courses. Thanks to these courses, people learn techniques for caring for fruit trees, preventing livestock diseases, repairing agricultural machinery, and using electricity safely. These courses are practical and help people improve their labor skills and increase their income.
In the early spring, when the peach and plum blossoms burst into bloom, the teachers and students of the school are busy preparing for spring-themed activities: a food fair, a competition for decorating traditional trays, and a cultural exchange with the theme "Spring on the roof of the vocational school"... All of these create a warm, cohesive atmosphere, rich in national identity.
The boarding students, mostly children of the Tay, Dao, Mong, and Pa Then ethnic groups, consider the school their second home. During Tet (Lunar New Year), the school organizes activities like making banh chung (traditional rice cakes) and holding bonfires so the students can experience the festive atmosphere of the New Year. Stories about the future and careers in the new year are shared around the firelight, making the spring season at the vocational school truly memorable.
The new spring is touching every home and every hillside in the highlands. At Bac Quang Ethnic Minority Boarding School - Continuing Education Center, that spring is also reflected in the smiles of the students, in the hands diligently learning their trades, and in their belief in a brighter future right here in their homeland. With the doors to vocational training wide open, the spring of change is closer than ever.
