Located in the western part of Quang Ninh province, within the heart of the northern economic triangle, Uong Bi possesses numerous advantages in terms of geographical location, waterway, road, and rail transportation, as well as abundant mineral resources. In particular, Uong Bi is home to many scenic spots, historical and cultural relics, and spiritual sites, attracting a large number of tourists annually. It also boasts many universities, colleges, and vocational schools, drawing thousands of students each year. These characteristics have created favorable conditions for the province to promote the development of tourism, trade, and service industries.
However, alongside the advantages, in recent times, some businesses in the area have been involved in smuggling, trading counterfeit goods, imitation goods, and substandard goods; failing to display prices of goods, etc., causing considerable difficulties for local authorities in market management. In particular, the current situation of trading prohibited goods, counterfeit goods, goods infringing intellectual property rights, and goods of unknown origin on websites and social media platforms (Facebook, TikTok, Zalo, etc.) is also significantly impacting the business environment and consumer rights.
Clearly identifying the characteristics and situation of the locality, from the beginning of 2024, the Steering Committee 389 of Uong Bi City proactively implemented many appropriate solutions to combat smuggling and counterfeit goods in the new situation. This included assigning specific tasks to member agencies to coordinate and effectively manage state affairs and combat smuggling and counterfeit goods in the area according to their respective fields of responsibility; requiring member agencies and units to establish hotlines operating 24/7 to receive and process information and complaints from individuals and organizations regarding smuggling and counterfeit goods…
