On February 9 in Hanoi, the Party Delegation of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor (VGCL) organized a scientific workshop on "Building a modern and strong working class, promoting its core role in the alliance with the peasantry and intellectuals in the new situation".
Comrades: Do Van Chien, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF), Deputy Head of the Central Steering Committee summarizing 20 years of Resolution No. 23-NQ/TW dated March 12, 2003 of the 9th Party Central Committee on promoting the strength of great national unity for a rich people, strong country, democratic, equitable and civilized society; together with Party Central Committee members: Pham Tat Thang, Deputy Head of the Central Committee for Mass Mobilization; Nguyen Dinh Khang, Secretary of the Party Delegation, President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor chaired the Workshop.
In his opening speech and introductory report at the Workshop, President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Nguyen Dinh Khang stated that the working class is the class leading the revolution through the vanguard, the Communist Party of Vietnam; the class representing advanced production methods; the pioneer class in the cause of building socialism, the leading force in the cause of industrialization and modernization of the country for the goal of a rich people, a strong country, democracy, equality, and civilization; the core force in the alliance with the peasantry and intellectuals under the leadership of the Party.
In the new era, the role of the Vietnamese working class continues to be demonstrated in many aspects and “The growth of the working class is a decisive condition for the success of the cause of promoting industrialization and modernization. After more than 35 years of renovation, as the leading force in the cause of industrialization and modernization of the country, the Vietnamese working class has continuously grown in both quantity and quality, present in all industries, occupations, and economic sectors.
Speaking at the workshop, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee Do Van Chien highly appreciated the Party Delegation of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor for proactively and actively preparing for this meaningful workshop. Chairman Do Van Chien said that the current context is different from the time of the issuance of Resolution 23-NQ/TW. The work of building and rectifying the Party and the political system to be clean and strong, associated with the fight against corruption and negativity of the Party and State, headed by General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, has achieved important results; the economy has developed, society has stabilized, social security has been ensured, national defense and security have been maintained, foreign affairs have achieved many encouraging results, and people's trust in the Party and State has been consolidated and strengthened.
Along with that, new factors have also emerged, such as strategic competition between countries and armed conflicts, natural disasters, and unpredictable epidemics that have surpassed all predictions; hostile forces have increased their sabotage, reducing the prestige and trust of the people in the regime; urbanization has posed a number of new complex problems, giving rise to inequalities in income and use of national resources. The fourth scientific revolution is a new progress of humanity, but for our country, it is both an opportunity and a challenge. If we do not actively welcome and adapt, we may fall behind...
According to comrade Do Van Chien, in order for the working class to continue to promote its core role in the alliance with the peasantry and the intelligentsia in the new situation, the working class must excel in thinking, awareness and scientific level, in strong sense of discipline, organization and system; the working class must be the ones who create material wealth for society, have stable jobs, have enough income to live, have housing and minimum social benefits. Along with that, the working class must be able to support farmers in the industrialization and modernization of agriculture and rural areas and support the intelligentsia in political capacity and social responsibility. To do so, it is necessary to organize recruitment, training, fostering, and using a strong system of civil servants, public employees, and workers to serve as the core leadership, thereby contributing to building a modern and strong Vietnamese working class, promoting its core role in the alliance with the peasantry and intellectuals in the new situation.
The workshop focused on discussing four groups of issues, including: First, the theoretical and practical basis of the position and role of the working class and some issues on the alliance of the working class, the peasantry and the intelligentsia in the past 20 years; causes and lessons learned.
Second, evaluate the results of building the alliance between the working class, the peasantry and the intelligentsia in the current period.
Third, forecast and analyze the situation and factors affecting the position and core role of the working class in the alliance with the peasantry and intellectuals under the leadership of the Party in the coming years.
Fourth, solutions and recommendations for building a modern and strong Vietnamese working class; promoting its core role in the alliance with the peasantry and intellectuals in the new situation.
With 20 presentations by experts, scientists, and trade union officials, many different approaches in both theory and practice were presented, thereby continuing to affirm: the working class plays a core role in the alliance with the peasantry and the intelligentsia, and has made direct and significant contributions to the process of building, developing the country and defending the Fatherland. Together with other classes, strata and social components, the working class of our country is a solid political and social foundation of the Party and the State. The historical mission of the working class can only be successfully carried out when the working class is closely connected and plays a core role in the alliance between the working class, the peasantry and the intelligentsia.
Therefore, the task of building the working class and consolidating the worker-farmer-intellectual alliance has become an important task of the entire political system under the leadership of the Party. With the function of an organization representing workers, caring for and protecting the legitimate and legal rights and interests of workers, the Vietnam Trade Union has promoted its role in attracting, gathering, uniting, and promoting the strength of the working class, contributing to consolidating the worker-farmer-intellectual alliance and building the great national unity bloc./.
