Given the complex developments of the tropical depression in the East Sea heading towards Dak Lak and Khanh Hoa, on December 2nd, Buon Kuop Hydropower Company in Dak Lak province issued a notice regarding the operation of "lowering the water level" of the Srepok 3 hydropower reservoir.
The notification was sent to the Civil Defense Command of Dak Lak and Lam Dong provinces; the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology; the Southern and Central Meteorological and Hydrological Stations and the Meteorological and Hydrological Stations of Dak Lak and Lam Dong provinces; the People's Committee of Dak Wil commune, Lam Dong province and the People's Committee of Ea Wer commune, Dak Lak province.
In accordance with the Prime Minister 's decision on the inter-reservoir operation procedure on the Srêpôk River basin and the coordinated plan for disaster prevention and search and rescue, at 10:00 AM on December 2nd, the Srêpôk 3 hydroelectric reservoir implemented the "lowering reservoir water level" operation mode, with a total discharge volume greater than the total inflow volume to gradually lower the reservoir water level to the lowest flood-receiving level of 271,000m.
The reservoir operating parameters at the time of lowering the water level were: Reservoir water level 271.968m, normal water level 272m; highest water level before flood was 272m, lowest water level for flood reception was 271m; downstream water level at the power plant was 210.25m; water level at the Ban Don Hydrological Station was 171.0m; inflow to the reservoir was 777 m³ /s; total discharge was 751 m³ /s, of which the flow for power generation was 412 m³ /s and the spillway discharge was 339 m³ /s.
According to Buôn Kuốp Hydropower Company, the equipment, spillway, and structures are all functioning normally.
