One of the clearest examples of learning from and following President Ho Chi Minh's example is the program to build and repair houses for poor and near-poor households and families entitled to preferential policies.
Proactively help the people.
The newly built house, still smelling of fresh paint, belonging to Mr. Doan Quoc Dung, a disabled veteran of category 1/4 in Minh An neighborhood, is the result of the collective efforts of the entire political system. Mr. Dung emotionally said: “Before, my house was severely dilapidated, leaking everywhere. Thanks to the attention of the commune leaders, my family now feels more secure during the rainy season.”
According to Lam Minh Cong, Secretary of the Chau Thanh Commune Party Committee, the Party Committee has concretized the learning and following of President Ho Chi Minh's teachings through practical actions linked to each task. "We believe that learning from President Ho Chi Minh is not just about empty words, but about concrete actions. The innovation here is shifting from general directives to being close to the people, from meetings on paper to going to the field and listening to each person's opinion," Mr. Cong said.

From 2020 to the present, Chau Thanh commune has mobilized nearly 2.4 billion VND through social contributions to build 251 new houses and repair 33 houses for disadvantaged households. Notably, commune officials not only provided financial support but also directly assisted the people in constructing the frames, painting the walls, and roofing the houses, demonstrating their care for the people through action, not just formality.
The approach of Chau Thanh commune clearly demonstrates a spirit of closeness to the people and attentiveness to their needs through proactively reviewing impoverished households, not waiting for people to come and ask before addressing their issues. Mr. Huynh Van Thuan, Deputy Secretary of the Party Branch and Deputy Head of Binh Lac hamlet, said: “We proactively go to each house, understanding each individual's circumstances. If people encounter any procedural difficulties, commune and hamlet officials work together to resolve them. This is how people gain trust and respond to the initiatives launched.”
Another positive aspect is that the young officials in Chau Thanh commune are trained in the "three together" style: going together, working together, and sharing responsibility with the people. As a result, the relationship between the government and the people is becoming increasingly close. Ms. Thi Le, residing in An Khuong hamlet, shared: "Before, I found the officials very distant. Now, they visit my house regularly. With the start of the school year, my grandchild received a helmet and essential supplies from the commune, so my family is very happy."
Discipline goes hand in hand with setting a good example.
To enhance leadership effectiveness, the Standing Committee of the Chau Thanh Commune Party Committee maintains weekly meetings and directly works with subordinate Party branches and committees to inspect and supervise key tasks. In addition, Party inspection, supervision, and discipline are also emphasized. During the 2020-2025 term, the commune conducted 118 inspections and supervisions of 206 Party branches and 171 individuals, resulting in strict disciplinary action against those who violated land management, ethics, and lifestyle regulations. Specifically, one official was dismissed, two were warned, and nine Party members were reprimanded. “Commune leaders must set an example; there’s no shirking of responsibility or waiting for superiors. They must proactively mobilize resources legally to serve the people. That’s learning from Uncle Ho through concrete daily work,” affirmed Comrade Lam Minh Cong.

A highlight of Chau Thanh's innovative leadership style is the organization of a flag-raising ceremony and singing of the national anthem on the first Monday of each month, a practice maintained regularly from the end of 2024 to the present. After the ceremony, the Party Secretary of the commune directly outlines the key tasks for the month, reminds them to implement the resolution on socio -economic development, and emphasizes the spirit of learning from President Ho Chi Minh in every action. The solemn atmosphere before the national flag also creates strong motivation for all commune officials and civil servants. From the awareness of wearing neat and proper attire to a sense of responsibility, discipline, and work style, everything has shown positive changes. The commune also considers this an opportunity to educate officials and Party members about patriotic traditions and a sense of responsibility.
Through innovative, decisive, and flexible approaches, the Party Committee of Chau Thanh commune has gradually built a team of cadres with a style that is close to the people, respects the people, and serves the people. More importantly, the spirit of learning from President Ho Chi Minh has been spreading here into concrete actions, from leaders to the people, creating a solid foundation for comprehensive and sustainable development.
