One of the clear examples of studying and following Uncle Ho is the program of building and repairing houses for poor, near-poor households and policy families.

Actively help people

The newly built house still smells of paint of Mr. Doan Quoc Dung, a 1/4 disabled veteran in Minh An neighborhood, is the result of the joint efforts of the entire political system. Mr. Dung emotionally said: "Before, my house was seriously degraded, leaking on all sides. Thanks to the attention of the commune leaders, now my family feels more secure every rainy season."

According to Chau Thanh Commune Party Secretary Lam Minh Cong, learning and following Uncle Ho is concretized by the Party Committee through practical actions associated with each task. "We believe that learning from Uncle Ho is not just empty talk but concrete action. The innovation here is to shift from general instructions to being close to the people, from meetings on paper to going to the place, listening to each opinion of the people," said Mr. Cong.

From 2020 to now, Chau Thanh commune has mobilized nearly 2.4 billion VND from the community to build 251 new houses and repair 33 solidarity houses for households in difficult circumstances. Notably, commune officials not only provided financial support but also directly worked with the people to build frames, whitewash, and roof, demonstrating their care for the people through actions, not formalities.

The way Chau Thanh commune works also clearly demonstrates the spirit of being close to the people and working closely with the work through proactively checking poor households, not waiting for people to come and ask for help before solving the problem. Mr. Huynh Van Thuan - Deputy Secretary of the Party Cell, Deputy Head of Binh Lac Hamlet said: "We proactively go to each house, clearly understand each situation. If people are stuck with any procedures, the commune and hamlet officials will help to solve them, only then will people believe and respond to the tasks that are launched."

Another bright spot is that the young cadres in Chau Thanh commune are trained in the “3 together” style: Going together, working together, and taking responsibility for the people. Thanks to that, the relationship between the government and the people is increasingly close. Ms. Thi Le, residing in An Khuong hamlet, shared: “Before, I felt that the cadres were very distant. Now, uncles and aunts come to visit my house regularly. Preparing to go to school, my nephew received a helmet and necessities from the commune, so the family is very excited.”

Discipline goes hand in hand with setting an example.

To improve leadership effectiveness, the Standing Committee of Chau Thanh Commune Party Committee maintains weekly consultations, directly working with Party cells and subordinate Party committees to inspect and urge key tasks. In addition, Party inspection, supervision and discipline work is also focused on. During the 2020-2025 term, the commune organized 118 inspections and supervisions of 206 Party cells and 171 individuals, thereby strictly disciplining violations of land management, ethics and lifestyle. Specifically, 1 cadre was dismissed, 2 people were warned and 9 Party members were reprimanded. "Commune leaders must set an example, there is no such thing as shirking responsibility or waiting for superiors, they must mobilize and legally mobilize resources to take care of the people. That is learning from Uncle Ho through specific daily work", Comrade Lam Minh Cong affirmed.

A highlight in Chau Thanh's innovative leadership style is the flag-raising ceremony and singing of the National Anthem on the first Monday morning of the month, which has been maintained regularly since the end of 2024. After the ceremony, the Party Secretary of the commune directly disseminated the key tasks of the month, reminded the implementation of the socio -economic development resolution and the spirit of learning from Uncle Ho in every action. The solemn atmosphere before the national flag also created a strong motivation for cadres and civil servants in the whole commune. From the awareness of wearing neat and proper uniforms, to the sense of responsibility, discipline, and working style, all have positive changes. The commune also considers this an opportunity to educate the tradition of patriotism and the sense of responsibility for cadres and party members.

From creative, decisive and flexible ways of working, Chau Thanh Commune Party Committee has gradually built a team of cadres with a style of being close to the people, respecting the people and working for the people. More importantly, the spirit of learning from Uncle Ho here has been spreading into concrete actions, from leaders to people, creating a solid foundation for comprehensive and sustainable development.
