| Plantain. |
Uses: Plantain is cooling in nature, sweet in taste, and enters the kidney, bladder, and lung meridians. Its main effects are clearing damp heat, promoting diuresis, and stopping bleeding.
- Treatment of urinary tract diseases: Treats urinary retention, hematuria, urinary stones, nephritis, and cystitis. The plant helps to clear the urinary tract and effectively reduces edema.
- Respiratory illnesses: Treats chronic coughs, bronchitis, and helps to clear phlegm.
- Digestive system: Supports the treatment of stomach pain.
- Hemostasis: Used in cases of nosebleeds or blood in the urine.
- Topical treatment: Fresh plantain leaves have antibacterial properties, helping boils to burst quickly and wounds to heal faster.
Directions and dosage:
Depending on the treatment purpose, plantain can be used in the following ways:
- Decoction form: Use 10-20g of the whole plant (dried) or 6-12g of seeds daily, decocted with water and drunk throughout the day.
- For external use: Take a handful of fresh plantain leaves, wash them thoroughly, crush them, and apply directly to the affected area of skin with boils or pimples.
Note:
Although it is a mild herb, because plantain has a very strong diuretic effect, users should not consume too much in the evening to avoid affecting sleep. Pregnant women or people with a weak constitution should consult a doctor before using it.
Planting a clump of plantain around the house not only beautifies the space but also provides a valuable "bag of medicine" for the health of the whole family.
