Indonesian and Lebanese players clashed at the end of a friendly match on the evening of September 8th - Video : TMS
In the 90+8th minute, during a throw-in situation where the ball was passed to a Lebanon player, Marselino Ferdinand (Indonesia) instead of using his hands to throw the ball, kicked directly at defender Hussein Zein with his foot.
The Lebanon defender lost his temper and rushed towards Ferndinan to confront him.
Thom Haye, standing next to Marselino Ferdinand, immediately pushed Hussein Zein aside to protect his younger teammate, initiating a fierce brawl between the two teams.
Players from both teams charged at each other, creating a chaotic scene on the Gelora Bung Tomo pitch. The referee and coaching staff from both teams quickly intervened, and only then did the heated tempers on the field subside.
The referee then issued three yellow cards to players from both teams, bringing the total number of yellow cards in the match to six, with Lebanon players receiving four of them.
The late-game brawl was a consequence of a series of aggressive tackles from both teams, particularly from the Lebanese players. Marselino Ferdinand's unsportsmanlike conduct towards Hussein Zein stemmed from a dangerous tackle the Lebanese defender had made a few minutes earlier, aimed directly at Marselino Ferdinand.
The match ended in a 0-0 draw, and the late-game scuffle only added to the fans' dissatisfaction.
