Vietnam values cooperation with the UK in digital transformation and clean energy

According to VNA special correspondent, on the morning of October 30 (local time), in London, General Secretary of the Central Executive Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam To Lam met with Mr. Tony Blair, former British Prime Minister and Chairman of the Tony Blair Institute within the framework of his official visit to the UK.

General Secretary To Lam expressed his pleasure at meeting Mr. Tony Blair again; highly appreciated Mr. Tony Blair's efforts as the former British Prime Minister as well as the current Chairman of the Tony Blair Institute, which have contributed to promoting Vietnam-UK relations; and welcomed the Tony Blair Institute's initiatives and cooperation activities in supporting policy advice, digital transformation, green economic development and enhancing governance capacity in many countries, including Vietnam.

Vietnam has a strong aspiration for rapid but stable development, as evidenced by the issuance of many important resolutions on breakthroughs in science and technology development, innovation, and private economic development, and initial implementation has achieved certain results.

During this development process, General Secretary To Lam affirmed that Vietnam attaches importance to promoting the Strategic Partnership with the UK, in which cooperation in digital transformation, renewable energy, innovation and public administration are considered important pillars of cooperation, contributing to developing the bilateral relationship in a substantial, effective and sustainable manner in the new era.

Mr. Tony Blair expressed his honor to meet General Secretary To Lam and the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation, and congratulated Vietnam and the UK on upgrading their relationship to a comprehensive strategic partnership.

Appreciating the achievements that Vietnam has made in recent times, especially with the recent strong reforms in the organizational arrangement, under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam and General Secretary To Lam himself, Mr. Tony Blair affirmed that Vietnam is currently a bright spot in the world, emphasizing that the Tony Blair Institute is ready to increase support for Vietnam in areas where the Institute has strengths such as policy advice on building financial centers, digital transformation, green energy strategy, attracting high-quality investment, developing human resources and improving state governance capacity through the application of artificial intelligence, improving work efficiency.

He also said that the Tony Blair Institute is ready to support and advise Vietnam on development to avoid falling into the middle-income trap, as suggested by the General Secretary, and is ready to act as a bridge to connect large corporations investing in the field of science and technology in Vietnam, including Oracle Corporation.

The former British Prime Minister expressed his delight at the Tony Blair Institute's cooperation with partners in Vietnam, believing that in the coming years there will be more effective cooperation.

Appreciating Mr. Tony Blair's proposals, General Secretary To Lam emphasized that Vietnam always welcomes and creates favorable conditions for specific and practical cooperation initiatives that are in line with the country's development goals; and suggested that the Tony Blair Institute continue to be a bridge to promote cooperation between ministries, sectors, businesses, research institutes and universities of the two countries, especially in the fields of digital government, digital economy, sustainable development, clean energy, education and training and healthcare./.
