The 2025 International Circus Festival “Circus Princess” was held at the Saratov Circus (Saratov, Russia) from May 29 to June 1, bringing together hundreds of artists from 12 countries, including Russia, the US, China, Hungary, Belgium, Argentina, Mongolia, Spain, Portugal, Ethiopia, Kazakhstan and Vietnam.
The participating troupes competed in 24 acts with diverse genres such as: flying swing, high swing, swinging, horse riding, springboard... At this year's festival, People's Artist Tong Toan Thang, Director of the Vietnam Circus Federation, was invited by the Organizing Committee to join the Jury.
The Vietnamese delegation participated in the only solo performance on the vertical wire “Cat woman” by artist Luu Thi Huong and was awarded the Bronze Crown “Circus Princess”. The award is part of the main award system of the festival, including 1 Platinum award, 2 Gold awards, 3 Silver awards and 4 Bronze awards.
People's Artist Tong Toan Thang, Director of the Vietnam Circus Federation, said that the festival had many high-wire acts, all of which were unique and outstanding. The jury had to work very hard to compare carefully the artistic quality, technique and level of each artist in the entries.
According to People's Artist Tong Toan Thang, the audience and international colleagues at the festival were extremely excited by the performance "Cat woman" by artist Luu Thi Huong, directed by People's Artist Tong Toan Thang. The performing artist transformed into the image of a wild cat and demonstrated high-class technical movements, while also being highly contemporary, from the performance style, costumes to music .
As a member of the Jury, People's Artist Tong Toan Thang said he admired and was deeply impressed with the award-winning performances at the festival such as "Horse Riding" by 8 Russian female artists (Platinum award), Swinging on a Pole by Russia and Swinging on a Ring by Kazakhstan (Gold award)...
The Director of the Vietnam Circus Federation also said that the tour to participate in this festival also helped him and Vietnamese artists gain more experience to stage and improve their performances for upcoming competitions.
Notably, right after the competition performance, the Vietnam Circus Federation received many invitations from international colleagues to perform and participate in competitions in other countries. Next July, artist Luu Thi Huong will join 3 other performers to participate in the IDOL World Circus Festival in Moscow (Russia).
