The international festival held in Vietnam will help raise the level of rice and give farmers the opportunity to access new knowledge and production technology.
At a press conference in Ho Chi Minh City on the morning of December 1, Mr. Dong Van Thanh, Chairman of the People's Committee of Hau Giang province (the unit coordinating with the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to organize the event), said that this Festival will take place from December 11-14 with about 200 international delegates attending, including leaders of the Ministry of Agriculture, ambassadors, and businesses from 39 countries that prefer to buy Vietnamese rice.

Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development of Vietnam, Hoang Trung, believes that this event will raise the level of Vietnamese rice in the world. Farmers will also have the opportunity to access new production knowledge and technology. "The goal is to help Vietnamese farmers escape poverty by participating in rice production," said Mr. Trung.
During this event, Vietnam will sign with the World Bank a commitment to support farmers and localities in the project to develop one million hectares of rice, which was approved by the Government at the end of October; sign a bilateral cooperation agreement with Indonesia on rice export...
Currently, 12 large enterprises from around the world such as the Philippines, China, India, Japan, Korea, and the Middle East have registered to participate and have a demand to buy Vietnamese rice. In addition, there are about 8 leaders of the Ministry of Agriculture from the Philippines, Laos, Indonesia, Venezuela... and 7 ambassadors from Europe, the US, Germany, Denmark... attending.
The latest statistics from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development show that in the first 11 months of the year, Vietnam's rice exports reached a record figure with a value of 4.4 billion USD, an increase of 36.3%; in terms of volume, it reached 7.75 million tons.
Currently, Vietnamese rice is being bought in large quantities by many countries because of its increasingly improved quality and abundant supply. On November 30, Vietnamese rice was also honored as the best in the world by The Rice Trader (USA).
Recently, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang signed a Decision approving the Project "Sustainable development of 1 million hectares of high-quality and low-emission rice cultivation associated with green growth in the Mekong Delta by 2030". The project is implemented in 12 provinces in the West in 2 phases.
