
Minister of Ethnic Minorities and Religions Dao Ngoc Dung received Archbishop Marek Zalewski, Permanent Representative of the Vatican in Vietnam
Speaking at the reception, Archbishop Marek Zalewski said that the Ministry of Ethnic Minorities and Religions is a newly established Ministry but has achieved many successes in religious work; at the same time, he thanked the Ministry for creating favorable conditions for the establishment of the Vatican Permanent Representative Office in Vietnam. This is an important turning point, demonstrating a positive and effective dialogue process.
Archbishop Marek Zalewski shared that, with more than 7 years of association with Vietnam, he deeply felt the openness, goodwill and spirit of respect for religious freedom, the attention and facilitation of the Vietnamese Government , and highly appreciated the cooperative and harmonious relationship between local authorities and dioceses.
The Permanent Representative of the Holy See expressed his deep gratitude to the Vietnamese Government for always paying attention to and supporting religious activities and the activities of the Catholic Church in Vietnam, and believed that the Vietnam - Vatican relationship will continue to develop in a positive direction.

The policy of the Vietnamese Party and State is to create favorable conditions for religions and Catholicism to operate in accordance with the law.
Minister Dao Ngoc Dung highly appreciated the role of the Resident Representative in promoting Vietnam - Vatican relations, guiding Vietnamese Catholic dignitaries, monks and nuns, and lay people to continue activities accompanying the nation, actively contributing to the construction and development of Vietnam.
Vietnam currently has over 27 million religious followers, of which more than 7 million are Catholics. The policy of the Party and State of Vietnam is to create favorable conditions for religions and Catholicism to operate in accordance with the law, contribute to all areas of social life, and accompany the authorities at all levels in the cause of national construction and development.
The Minister acknowledged the positive activities of the Catholic Church of Vietnam in charity work, relief work for people in areas affected by natural disasters, storms and floods, as well as in the fields of education , health care and social protection. At the same time, he expressed his hope that the Holy See and the Permanent Representative would continue to coordinate closely and maintain regular dialogue, thereby strengthening friendly relations, promoting mutual understanding and contributing to ensuring human rights in the field of belief and religion in Vietnam.
