Regarding the repatriation of the first Vietnamese out of 437 people rescued at a casino in Pampanga province, near the capital Manila, Philippines on May 4, Mr. Nguyen Duc Thang said: "We confirm that so far, 140 Vietnamese citizens out of a total of 437 people have returned home safely."

Mr. Thang said that previously, on May 30, 60 people returned to Vietnam and on June 1, another 80 people returned home safely.

The Deputy Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs informed that the Ministry has directed the Consular Department and the Vietnamese Embassy in the Philippines to continue to discuss with the Philippine side to soon bring the remaining citizens back to Vietnam safely, ensuring the legitimate rights and interests of Vietnamese citizens.

"On this occasion, we would also like to reiterate that the Vietnamese Government advocates promoting legal, safe and orderly migration, while resolutely combating illegal migration, illegal human trafficking and human trafficking," Deputy Spokesperson Nguyen Duc Thang emphasized.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has coordinated with localities and relevant authorities to increase propaganda about the need for people going abroad to find work on their own to be extremely vigilant with offers of light jobs that do not require qualifications because they can quickly become victims of labor exploitation, become illegal residents or even become victims of human trafficking.

Also at the press conference, regarding the work of protecting citizens in the traffic accident in Jingxi City, Baise, Guangxi Province on May 19 that killed 11 people and injured 2 others, Deputy Spokesperson Nguyen Duc Thang said: "The Consular Department - Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Vietnamese Consulate General in Nanning have coordinated with local authorities to guide and support the victims' families in carrying out procedures and funeral matters to bring the bodies and remains back to the country, take necessary citizen protection measures, and soon bring the 2 injured citizens back to the country."
