The ceremony was attended by two senior leaders in charge of tourism from Vietnam and Malaysia, marking a new development in the cooperative relationship between Vietnam's national airline and the Malaysian tourism industry.
According to the agreement, Vietnam Airlines and the Malaysia Tourism Promotion Board will coordinate to implement bilateral promotion activities, focusing on promoting Malaysian destinations through Vietnam Airlines' existing flight network and joint communication campaigns.
The two sides will organize field survey programs for the press, travel agents and influencers; at the same time, share market information, co-organize events and build products suitable for each customer group.
The cooperation aims to develop sustainable tourism, enhance passenger experience, strengthen air connectivity and make Malaysia an even more attractive destination for Vietnamese tourists.

Director General of Tourism Malaysia, Datuk Manoharan Periasamy said: The cooperation with Vietnam Airlines is a strategic step to enhance connectivity between the two countries. The developed aviation network not only promotes tourism growth but also contributes to deepening people-to-people exchanges, economic cooperation and cultural exchanges.
“Through this cooperation, we aim to develop sustainable tourism and bring long-term benefits to both Malaysia and Vietnam,” said General Director Datuk Manoharan Periasamy.
Currently, Vietnam Airlines is operating direct flights between Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and Kuala Lumpur.
In addition, other airlines are also directly connecting major cities such as Da Nang, Da Lat, Phu Quoc and Nha Trang with Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Johor Bahru and Kota Kinabalu.
As of July 2025, air connections between the two countries will be carried out with 164 flights per week, equivalent to nearly 30,000 seats, to meet the growing demand for tourism and trade.

Emphasizing the importance of Malaysia in Vietnam Airlines' international flight network development strategy, Mr. Dang Anh Tuan, Deputy General Director of Vietnam Airlines affirmed: As a national airline and an important bridge in the region, Vietnam Airlines always strives to expand its flight network, effectively connecting tourism, cultural and commercial centers.
"The signing of the memorandum of understanding is a strategic step to help Vietnam Airlines strengthen air connectivity with Malaysia and promote bilateral tourism development. We are committed to effectively coordinating and implementing cooperation activities, bringing convenient and quality experiences to passengers of both countries." - Deputy General Director Dang Anh Tuan shared.
In the coming time, the Malaysia Tourism Promotion Board will implement many promotional activities in the Vietnamese market such as MADANI Malaysia Week, Malaysia Tourism, Culture and Cuisine Festival 2025 in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, along with long-term programs such as Malaysia - Second Home (Malaysia My Second Home) and Visit Malaysia 2026 campaign.
Vietnam Airlines also maintains an effective bilateral cooperation relationship with the national airline Malaysia Airlines on many key routes such as from Ho Chi Minh City to Hanoi, Da Nang, Perth operated by Vietnam Airlines and from Kuala Lumpur to Ho Chi Minh City, Penang, Bangkok operated by Malaysia Airlines.
This cooperation has contributed to improving operational efficiency, increasing flight occupancy rates and expanding the connection network to domestic destinations in Malaysia.
The signing of the Memorandum of Understanding is an important basis for the two sides to coordinate in implementing synchronous and effective cooperation programs.

With an extensive flight network, stable operating capacity and international cooperation experience, Vietnam Airlines will continue to promote its role as a leading bridge in the region, accompanying international partners to promote sustainable tourism and spread the image of Vietnam as a destination globally.
In addition, Tourism Malaysia also actively supports the Indonesia-Malaysia-Thailand Growth Triangle (IMT-GT) initiative, towards the IMT-GT Joint Tourism Year 2023-2025 with the aim of jointly promoting the sub-region as an attractive integrated tourism area.
