Vietnam ranked among the top achievers at the 2025 Asian Physics Olympiad

At the 2025 Asian Physics Olympiad (APhO) held in Saudi Arabia, all 8 students of the Vietnam National Team won medals, including: 3 Gold Medals, 3 Silver Medals and 2 Bronze Medals.

Specifically, the Gold Medals went to the following students: Nguyen The Quan, grade 12, Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted, Nghe An province; Nguyen Cong Vinh, grade 12, Bac Ninh High School for the Gifted, Bac Ninh province; Truong Duc Dung, grade 12, High School for the Gifted in Natural Sciences , University of Natural Sciences, Vietnam National University, Hanoi.

The three students who won Silver Medals were: Ly Ba Khoi, grade 12, High School for Gifted Students in Natural Sciences, University of Natural Sciences, Vietnam National University, Hanoi ; Tran Le Thien Nhan, grade 12, Quoc Hoc Hue High School for Gifted Students, Hue City; Phan Quang Triet, grade 12, Phan Boi Chau High School for Gifted Students, Nghe An Province.

The two students who won Bronze Medals were: Tran Trung Hieu, grade 12, Quoc Hoc Hue High School for the Gifted, Hue City; Nguyen Ngoc Phuong Anh, grade 12, Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the Gifted, Hanoi City.

The 25th Asian Physics Olympiad was held from May 4-12 in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia, with 30 delegations from 29 countries and territories participating, with a total of 208 contestants.

According to the APhO Olympic regulations, students taking the exam will take two theoretical exams (5 hours) and practical exams (5 hours). This year's theoretical exam is based on practical and modern applications of Physics such as: The precession of the Earth's axis causes global climate effects; Spin waves related to quantum computers and the Greenhouse effect. The practical exam is based on the electromagnetic induction effect and its application in induction cookers.

The Vietnamese delegation ranked in the group of 5 countries and territories with the highest achievements: China, South Korea, Taipei (China), Russia and Vietnam.

With 3 Gold Medals, 3 Silver Medals and 2 Bronze Medals, this year's achievements of the Vietnamese team are considered to be superior to last year (2024: 1 Gold Medal, 1 Silver Medal, 6 Bronze Medals). The APhO 2025 Organizing Committee will hold the closing ceremony and award ceremony on May 12.
