The former Bank for Foreign Trade of Vietnam, now the Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Foreign Trade of Vietnam (Vietcombank), was established and officially put into operation on April 1, 1963 with its predecessor being the Central Foreign Exchange Management Department (under the State Bank of Vietnam).
As the first state-owned commercial bank selected by the Government to pilot equitization, Vietcombank officially operated as a joint stock commercial bank on June 2, 2008 after successfully implementing the equitization plan through the initial public offering of shares. On June 30, 2009, Vietcombank shares (stock code VCB) were officially listed on the Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange.
Over 60 years of establishment and development, Vietcombank has made important contributions to the stability and development of the country's economy , effectively promoting the role of a key foreign bank, effectively serving domestic economic development, and at the same time creating important influences on the regional and global financial community.

Digital technology transaction space and multi-utility digital banking services provided to individual and corporate customers such as: VCB Digibank, VCB - iB@nking, VCB CashUp, VCB DigiBiz... have been and will continue to attract a large number of customers with convenience, speed, safety, efficiency, creating a habit of cashless payment for a large number of customers.
After more than half a century of operation in the market, Vietcombank is now one of the largest commercial banks in Vietnam. Vietcombank currently has more than 600 branches/transaction offices/representative offices/member units at home and abroad, including: 1 head office in Hanoi; 126 branches; 510 transaction offices; 4 domestic subsidiaries (financial leasing company, securities company, remittance company, Vietcombank 198 Building Company); 3 foreign subsidiaries (Vinafico Hongkong Company, Vietcombank Money Transfer Company in the US, subsidiary bank in Laos); 1 representative office in Ho Chi Minh City; 1 representative office in Singapore, 1 representative office in the US; 3 public service units: Human resource training and development school, 1 cash processing center in Hanoi and 1 cash processing center in Ho Chi Minh City; 3 joint ventures and associates. In terms of human resources, Vietcombank currently has nearly 23,000 employees. In addition, Vietcombank has also developed an Autobank system with more than 2,500 ATMs and over 60,000 card payment acceptance units nationwide. Banking operations are also supported by a network of 1,163 correspondent banks in 93 countries and territories around the world.
