At the Nvidia GTC Taipei event, part of the COMPUTEX 2026 technology exhibition in Taiwan (China), on June 1st, VinFast , Nvidia, and Autobrains announced a strategic partnership to develop a next-generation Level 4 robotaxi (self-driving taxi) program for the Southeast Asian market based on the Nvidia Drive Hyperion platform.
This collaboration marks a step forward for VinFast in its roadmap to popularize advanced self-driving technology at an affordable cost, while also opening up a more practical approach to autonomous mobility solutions in the region's complex traffic environments.
Accordingly, based on the Nvidia Drive Hyperion 10 computing platform, combined with Autobrains' Agentic AI software to support autonomous driving capabilities, VinFast is developing a Level 4 robotics platform for the Southeast Asian market. With high traffic density, diverse traffic behaviors, and complex urban environments, Southeast Asia provides a leading and rigorous testing ground for autonomous driving technology.
The tripartite collaboration was initiated in the context of current self-driving solutions still facing many challenges related to system complexity, high computing costs, and unstable operation outside of controlled environments. To address these issues, VinFast, Nvidia, and Autobrains developed a modular, open architecture combining vehicle integration, a high-performance computing platform, and AI software.
Unlike traditional end-to-end models, Autobrains' Agentic AI utilizes multiple specialized AI agents, activated only when necessary for specific driving tasks. This approach enhances situational awareness in real-world traffic conditions, reduces computational resource requirements, and creates a cost-effective platform for scaling autonomous driving technology.
For VinFast, the collaboration program provides a foundation for developing advanced autonomous driving solutions with a more cost-effective structure. Specifically, Nvidia's Drive Hyperion 10 architecture provides a proven hardware and software platform, significantly reducing the integration workload that typically spans years in autonomous vehicle programs.
Professor, Dr. Nguyen Van Duong, Deputy General Director of VinFast's Autonomous Driving Features Development Division and Director of the ADAS/AD Research Institute, stated: “With the belief that advanced mobility technology should not be the privilege of a select few, VinFast is committed to developing scalable and accessible autonomous driving solutions through collaboration with leading global technology partners. Together with Autobrains and Nvidia, we are gradually building a practical and cost-effective approach to Level 4 mobility technology in the dynamic real-world traffic environment of Southeast Asia.”
Rishi Dhall, Vice President of Nvidia's Automotive division, stated: “Software-Defined Vehicles (SDVs) are driving the transformation of the automotive industry. VinFast's Level 4 development on the Nvidia Drive Hyperion platform, combined with Autobrains' self-driving software, will accelerate the development of safe, reliable autonomous vehicles suitable for complex real-world traffic conditions.”
