After the merger, Vinh Long province has a natural area of more than 6,200 square kilometers, a population of nearly 4.2 million people with 124 commune-level administrative units.

The new administrative space platform offers significant opportunities for restructuring and developing tourism into a sustainable brand, attracting both domestic and foreign tourists.

Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vinh Long province Lam Huu Phuc said that with an area and population that has increased more than 3 times, the new province has greater economic potential, easily attracting tourists and investors.

The province has the advantage of being a traffic hub connecting the Mekong Delta with Ho Chi Minh City. The road and waterway traffic system is quite synchronously developed, including key national highways and expressways passing through, creating favorable conditions for exchange, tourism development and investment cooperation.

Besides, Vinh Long's tourism ecosystem is less affected by urbanization, still has great potential to develop resort tourism, attracting tourists to experience the unique local culture and enjoy the fresh air.

The merger allows the province to more effectively promote the values of indigenous cultural resources, build unique tourism products, and create an ecosystem of connection and sharing between localities.

To promote tourism development in the coming time, Vinh Long continues to advise on resolving administrative procedures on time, promptly issuing policies to support investment in tourism development; reviewing and recommending central ministries and branches to create mechanisms to attract investment and develop tourism in the province.

At the same time, the province mobilizes resources to invest and effectively implement plans to develop transport infrastructure, focusing on tourism infrastructure, especially passenger ports, inland waterway wharves and routes connecting tourist areas and destinations.

With its own advantages and characteristics, Vinh Long province will focus on developing products such as community tourism, river tourism, cultural - festival tourism, sea tourism and agricultural tourism... based on the strengths of the locality. The province develops large-scale, unique tourism clusters, adapting to climate change and aiming for green, sustainable tourism.

On the other hand, the locality also focuses on improving the quality of tourism human resources; enhancing the application of information technology in administration, business, promotion; building digital maps, researching the integration of smart tourism portals and developing smart ecosystems to enhance the experience for tourists.

In addition, the province continues to implement tourism development cooperation programs with Ho Chi Minh City and localities in the Mekong Delta region, nationwide and internationally to expand tour routes and create new tourism products.

Vinh Long also aims to promote priority projects calling for tourism investment that have been granted a memorandum of understanding by the Provincial People's Committee, striving to attract key projects such as: Con Cai Ga Cho Lach Resort, Coordination Center of Cultural Tourism Village - Rest Stop (Cho Lach), Khmer Cultural - Tourism Village and Ao Ba Om Cultural - Tourism Resort,...

In the first 6 months of 2025, Vinh Long welcomed more than 5.1 million visitors, including more than 4.4 million domestic visitors and more than 676,000 international visitors, with revenue of more than 4,000 billion VND.
