Speaking after the match, Vitinha shared: "Messi? What he has achieved at this age is astonishing. Messi is still the best player in the world right now."
Vitinha's statements came after he and Messi had a clash on the pitch. In one play, Vitinha easily dribbled past M10. The Inter Miami star lost his temper and reacted by repeatedly gesticulating towards Vitinha in retaliation. Fortunately for Messi, the referee did not give him a card in this incident.

In the past, L'Equipe revealed that Vitinha and Messi had a conflict during training. At the time, the Argentine superstar told his younger teammate: "Your weakness hurts us." This statement is believed to have seriously affected the Portuguese midfielder's confidence.
