In 2002, Mr. Duc and his wife founded the charity organization "Helping the Needy" (LLDLR). Initially, the couple handled everything themselves: from identifying and investigating cases in need, to funding the donations, organizing visits, distributing gifts, and providing moral support. Gradually, word spread, and today the LLDLR charity organization has gathered 20 members from various walks of life: civil servants, teachers, small business owners, private enterprises, even motorbike and cyclo drivers. The organization operates with the motto: "Do good deeds without calculating personal gain or loss." Through its activities, the organization has implemented many meaningful programs and charitable activities with profound humanitarian value.
For example, the "Charity Shirt for Students in the Remote Area of A Lưới" program collects various items: old clothes, shoes, blankets, books, pencils, pens, as well as rice and instant noodles... to help poor children, students of kindergartens, primary and secondary schools in Hồng Vân and A Roàng communes; the "Giving Gifts for the Lunar New Year" program brings smiles, joy, and happiness to poor students in some localities of the province. During the Lunar New Year of the Pig 2019, Anh Đức's Association sowed "seeds of love," fostering compassion among poor but academically excellent students of Phú Mậu Secondary School; and distributed hundreds of gift packages including rice and instant noodles to people in difficult circumstances, single-parent families, and elderly people without support. Gifts were given to elderly people in the Kim Long resettlement area, elderly people in difficult circumstances in An Ninh Thuong village (Huong Long ward), elderly people living alone in the Dong Ba Bridge and Gia Hoi Bridge areas, and poor households in Phu Loc district, Phong Dien district, and Phu Mau commune (Phu Vang district)...
Twelve-year-old Le Huu Ha, from the Hope Shelter, emotionally said: “I thank Uncle Duc and the members of the group for bringing us a warm Mid-Autumn Festival. Every year, when the eighth lunar month comes, we eagerly wait for Uncle Duc's group to come and give us gifts.” On September 21, 2019, Uncle Duc's group also distributed 500 portions of soup to patients and their families at Hue Central Hospital. Ms. Tran Thi Thuy, a patient who received free soup, shared: “I came from Quang Ngai to be hospitalized for a long time, which is expensive, and my family's finances are very difficult. I am very grateful to receive the rice, food, and soup from the LLĐLR Charity Group. Thank you, Uncle Duc and the members of the group.”
In 2018, the "Helping Hands" Charity Association, chaired by Mr. Duc, donated gifts to disadvantaged individuals, those with cancer or serious illnesses, and provided scholarships to underprivileged students and children in remote areas of Thua Thien Hue province, totaling over 45 million VND. In 2019, the "Helping Hands" Charity Association donated gifts to the poor and awarded scholarships to students worth over 40 million VND. These encouraging initial achievements are thanks to the dedication to charitable work of "co-chairs" Mr. Nguyen Van Duc and Ms. Tran Thi Tam.
Recently, in May 2023, in just one week, Mr. and Mrs. Duc raised 8.6 million VND to provide timely support to Tran Thi Thuy, 28 years old, residing in Hamlet 15, Mau Tai Village (Phu Mau Commune), who was suffering from blood infection and in a very dire situation. Currently, the "Helping the Needy" charity group of Mr. and Mrs. Tam and Duc is also launching and implementing many meaningful and deeply humane charitable programs in the summer of 2023.
