VPF makes a surprising statement about the Hang Day Stadium pitch suddenly appearing smaller!

The Vietnam Professional Football Joint Stock Company (VPF) issued an explanation at 10:30 PM on the same day. VPF stated: " Before Round 14 of the Night Wolf V-League 1 - 2023-2024, the Hang Day Stadium Management Board repainted the playing field, adjusting the surface area from 67 m x 103 m to 64.8 m x 95 m, in order to maintain the grass in the area in front of the goalposts near Stand D and a portion of the grass along the sidelines near the visiting team's technical cabin."

Reducing the pitch area does not affect the competition or violate any current regulations. According to the rules of football, the length of the pitch ranges from 90 m to 120 m, and the width from 64 m to 75 m. The rules of football also state that the tournament organizers have the right to decide on the area within these limits. With the adjustment of the pitch dimensions, the tournament organizers, together with their television partners, have promptly updated the changes, especially integrating the technical parameters to ensure the operation of VAR technology at Hang Day Stadium."

The main referee received both praise and criticism.

Regarding the match result, The Cong Viettel came from behind to beat visiting team Quang Nam with a score of 3-2. Referee Do Khanh Nam was heavily criticized by Quang Nam's coach, Van Sy Son.

Speaking at the post-match press conference, Mr. Son said: " The referee caused our defeat. The red card given to Ngan Van Dai was undeserved; the collision was perfectly normal and didn't warrant a red card. I am dissatisfied with the referee's decision, including that of the VAR team. The referee has problems, especially in ignoring numerous fouls by the home team. I don't understand why the main referee and the VAR team worked like that; I've truly lost faith. The red card led to us playing poorly and running out of steam in the second half. If we had a full squad, perhaps we wouldn't have lost."

However, Viettel's coach Nguyen Duc Thang had a different opinion: " VAR is used to bring the most objectivity to matches. I didn't closely observe the incident where Dai received a red card. However, the referee officiated well in this match, there weren't many controversial situations, and VAR thoroughly reviewed many instances. The referee had no problems."
