Ha Long Bay boat capsize: Insurance expected to pay over 23 billion VND

On August 1, the Department of Insurance Management and Supervision (Ministry of Finance) informed about insurance companies compensating and paying insurance money in the case of the capsized tourist service ship Vinh Xanh 58 in Ha Long Bay (Quang Ninh).

Accordingly, based on reports from insurance companies, representatives of the Department of Information Insurance Management and Supervision said that as of July 31, the total amount of compensation and insurance payments is expected to be 23.4 billion VND.

Of which, the total expected non-life insurance compensation is 3.3 billion VND, including 1.2 billion VND from shipowner's civil liability insurance for passengers, crew accident insurance and 1.1 billion VND from passenger accident insurance.

For the life insurance sector, the total expected insurance payout is 20.1 billion VND.

Previously, on July 19, in the Ti Top island area, Quang Ninh province, the tourist service ship Green Bay 58 (QN 7105) capsized, causing damage to people and property, killing 39 people and 10 people were fortunately rescued.

After the incident, according to the Ministry of Finance , insurance companies proactively contacted the families of the victims to compensate and pay insurance money.

The Department of Insurance Management and Supervision is actively monitoring, urging, supporting and guiding insurance companies in the process of advance payment and compensation, ensuring that compensation is quick, complete and timely.
