Notably, a miracle occurred this afternoon when authorities discovered 3 people in a family returning after being listed as missing. According to a representative of the Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee, the 3 people who had just returned were Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong (33 years old), Hoang Thi Hiem (16 years old), and Hoang Trung Huyen (14 years old). These are 3 mothers and children in a family, in which the mother went to work in Yen Bai , was isolated by the flood and has just returned home. On the same morning, authorities also identified 8 people in 2 households returning after escaping the fierce flood. They are Mr. Hoang Van Tien's family and Mr. Hoang Van Duan's family. Previously, on the 2nd day of searching, Lao Cai province and Military Region 2 mobilized 650 people to the scene. Military forces, police, militia, and local people cordoned off the area and divided shifts to search for the missing victims. 11 officers from Secondary School 24 (Border Guard) and 5 sniffer dogs went to the scene to assist in the search for victims. Yesterday afternoon, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and his delegation visited the scene of the flash flood that left nearly 100 people dead and missing. The Prime Minister sent his condolences to the families of those who died, went missing, or suffered losses in this flood; at the same time, he requested the search force to change their methods, because the families are very eager to find the missing; the injured must be promptly and fully treated. The Prime Minister also assigned agencies to survey and plan safe spots, and quickly restore the village, no later than the end of this year. The Prime Minister emphasized that Lao Cai province must request the Central Government to provide whatever it lacks, so that by December 31, the people still living in Lang Nu must have a safe place. At the same time, the Prime Minister assigned the military and police forces to search for missing people, quickly stabilize the situation for the people, work with Lao Cai province to restore the village, apply mechanisms in special cases, and handle related issues.
