Specifically, at 3:00 a.m. on May 26, Roon Border Guard Station received information: transport ship Cong Thanh 07 with 11 crew members, carrying 4,932.06 tons of coal, traveling from Quang Ninh to Quang Binh.
At coordinates 18006'53” N-106030'30” E, about 10 nautical miles north of Hon La, there was an accident, the ship tilted, water entered and sank, the crew left the ship, unknown.

Upon receiving the news, the Quang Binh Provincial Border Guard Command directed units to contact and notify ships and boats operating in the area where the sunken ship was to carry out search and rescue measures. At the same time, it notified coastal units and Border Guard Squadron 2 to prepare forces and means to be ready for search and rescue missions.
At 5:15 a.m. this morning, fishing boat QB-93176-TS, owned and captained by Mr. Nguyen Thanh Tu (in Canh Duong commune, Quang Trach district), announced that he had rescued 1 crew member, Mr. Do Sy Thuong (born in 1978), in Diem Dien commune, Thai Thuy district, Thai Binh province, who is the Deputy Captain of the cargo ship Thanh Cong 07.

At 6:45 a.m. on May 26, 2025, ship QB-93176-TS brought this crew member to Roon port. Roon Border Guard Station sent officers to complete the reception procedures, and the unit's medical staff checked his basic health and found him to be stable. Mr. Thuong said that all crew members on the ship were wearing life jackets.
By 11am today, the rescue team had discovered and rescued 3 more crew members in distress in the Cua Gianh area. The rescued crew members are in stable condition. Currently, the authorities are actively searching for 7 missing crew members.
The Quang Binh Provincial Border Guard Command continues to direct units to communicate and notify on media, fishing vessel monitoring systems, and digital platforms to vessels and fishermen operating in the above-mentioned sea area, participating in search and rescue (currently, 09 fishing vessels are participating).
Roon Border Guard Station sent 03 officers and Hai Van ship, belonging to Quang Binh Maritime Port Authority, to participate in search and rescue; Coastal Border Guard stations and Border Guard Squadron 2 are ready with forces and means when ordered.
