Can Loc rice granary achieves highest yield ever

(Baohatinh.vn) - With an average rice yield of 64 quintals/ha - the highest ever, farmers in Can Loc (Ha Tinh) are excited to speed up the harvest.

These days, throughout the fields in Can Loc district ( Ha Tinh ), the atmosphere of rice harvesting is very bustling. Farmers are excited because this year's spring rice crop is not only a good harvest but also has a good price.

As soon as the rice ripens, farmers in Khanh Vinh Yen commune rush to harvest it.

As one of the localities considered the rice granary of Ha Tinh, in the spring crop of 2025, Can Loc will plant over an area of ​​over 9,100 hectares, of which over 3,000 hectares are for concentrated production. This year, Can Loc continues to use key varieties suitable for the locality, with outstanding advantages in productivity and quality such as: Nep 98, Ha Phat, VNR20, Bac Thinh...

According to information from the district's Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, from May 13, some localities have started harvesting. Up to now, the whole district has harvested nearly 400 hectares of rice, concentrated in the communes of Phu Loc, Xuan Loc, Kim Song Truong, Khanh Vinh Yen, Thien Loc... With an average yield of the whole district estimated at 64 quintals/ha, (in the spring crop of 2024, the yield reached 63.46 quintals/ha), the harvested rice was purchased by traders right in the field at a price of 7,000 VND/kg (nearly 1,000 VND/kg higher than the same period last year), so farmers are very excited.

Can Loc people are enjoying a bumper crop.

Ms. Phan Thi Thanh Quynh - Yen Xuan village, Xuan Loc commune (Can Loc) shared: "This year, my family produces nearly 1 hectare of rice. The weather is favorable, there are few pests and diseases, so the rice yield is high. Fresh rice reaches nearly 80 quintals/ha, the selling price at the field is 7,000 VND/kg, this rice crop has brought a good income for the family".

Sharing the joy of a good harvest, Mr. Nguyen The Minh in Hoa Binh village, Khanh Vinh Yen commune said: "With the current productivity and prices, we not only ensure food for the whole year but also have additional income to invest in the upcoming summer-autumn crop."

Xuan Loc people are excited to harvest summer-autumn rice.

To have a bumper rice crop like today, Can Loc people have closely followed the instructions of the professional sector, focused on planting on schedule, taking care of rice according to technical processes, proactively providing water sources... so the rice grows and develops well. In addition to using high-quality rice varieties, Can Loc farmers have applied scientific and technical advances, applied mechanization to the production process, combined with the reasonable use of fertilizers.

Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan - Chairman of the People's Committee of Kim Song Truong Commune - the locality with the largest rice growing area in the district said: "With an area of ​​nearly 950 hectares of rice, we regularly strengthen propaganda, instruct people to closely follow the production plan, apply good quality varieties, suitable for the soil, guide farming techniques and create favorable conditions for product consumption. The close coordination between the local government and people has contributed significantly to the success of this year's spring rice crop."

Traders buy immediately after harvest.

With the motto "wherever the rice is ripe, harvest quickly", Can Loc will speed up the spring rice harvest, peaking from May 20 to 25, striving to complete the summer-autumn harvest before May 30.

To facilitate the people in the harvesting process, the district directed localities to count the number of harvesters operating in the area for reasonable regulation; organize invitations for heads of cooperative groups and owners of harvesters to work to negotiate and agree on prices; divide areas for machine owners to ensure the fastest harvesting progress. Widely announce to people the rice harvest price after agreement, absolutely do not let the phenomenon of price pressure, protection of fields slow down the harvesting progress.

The district has also directed localities to urgently deploy the summer-autumn production project to the people, no later than May 18.
