Việt NamViệt Nam21/08/2024

(LĐ online) - With the desire to find a different direction in the commercial vegetable and flower growing area in Don Duong district, Mr. Nguyen Trong Thieu has experimented and initially successfully grown Japanese peony grapes. The lush green vineyard, berries, and full bunches make many people excited when they come to visit and take pictures.

This vineyard was invested in and cared for by Mr. Thieu in Nghia Lap 5 Residential Group (Thanh My town, Don Duong district) on an area of 500 m2 with peony, black summer and candy grape varieties being tested.

Initially, Mr. Thieu also encountered some obstacles when choosing and starting to experiment with grape varieties, a very rare plant that had been chosen to be grown in this land before, or if planted, it had always failed. Moreover, even his family members did not support him because the direction was too risky.

Currently, Mr. Thieu's vineyard is grown biologically, using biological pesticides, organic fertilizers and minimizing chemical elements to create safe products. Visitors can enjoy fresh grapes in the garden, safe for health.
After learning about planting and care techniques, Mr. Thieu tested planting some grape varieties and now the peony grape variety has been harvested.

Mr. Thieu said: Peony grapes originated in Japan, then developed strongly in Korea and China. About 3 years ago, Vietnamese farmers started to grow them in some provinces and cities in the Northern region, the Mekong Delta... Many hot regions can also grow this famously expensive plant.

Initially, Mr. Thieu bought a few grapevines to try planting at home. The results were surprising, as the plants grew quickly, with lush branches and leaves. However, at that time, the fruits were small and not as sweet and fragrant as they are now.

After many times of research and adjustment of farming techniques, in early 2023, Mr. Thieu made a bold decision: Converting 500m2 of greenhouse growing chrysanthemums, experimenting with growing peony grapes, black grapes and candy grapes. After more than 1 and a half years, the green peony grape roots have begun to bear their first sweet fruit.
After many times of research and adjustment of cultivation techniques, the green peony grape roots have produced fruit with quality beyond expectations.

After a period of research and adjustment of care techniques, in early 2023, Mr. Thieu decided to move 500 m2 of the greenhouse where chrysanthemums were grown to test growing peony grapes, black grapes and candy grapes.

"At first, I was worried that if I didn't master the technique, the quality of the fruit wouldn't be sweet and flavorful, but right from the first batch, the green grape bunches gave unexpected quality," Thieu shared.

“At first, I was worried that if I didn’t master the technique, the fruit wouldn’t be sweet and delicious. But unexpectedly, the results from the first batch exceeded my expectations,” Thieu shared.

According to Mr. Thieu, grape growing techniques are one of the obstacles, because each crop will be suitable for different soil and climate conditions. In the coming time, Mr. Thieu will continue to research techniques and care methods to be able to produce beautiful bunches of grapes, berries and ideal weight for sale on the market.

Each bunch of grapes weighs from 500 - 700 grams. After evaluating the quality of the fruit, Mr. Thieu found that the peony grapes in Don Duong district produce large, sweet and fragrant fruits with the characteristic aroma of peony grapes.

Through the introduction of acquaintances as well as information spread on social networks, many people know and come to visit the vineyard. Currently, Mr. Thieu welcomes visitors for free and sells peony grapes at a price of 200,000 VND/kg for visiting and experiencing the garden.

According to Ms. Van, the model of sightseeing and experiencing and eating fruit in the garden like this is currently a trend and is attractive to tourists because they do not need to go too far to Ninh Thuan, right in Don Duong and Duc Trong there are vineyards and fruit trees so she can bring relatives and friends to visit and take pictures.
Recently, Mr. Thieu's vineyard has attracted many locals and tourists to visit, take photos and experience picking and enjoying clean grapes right in the garden.

Ms. Ta Hai Van (living in Thanh My town, Don Duong district) said: Previously, she had visited, experienced the harvesting and enjoying of grapes in some gardens in Ninh Thuan . So when she heard that in her district there was also a beautiful vineyard to visit and experience like that, she was quite surprised and curious to go and see.

According to Ms. Van, the model of sightseeing and experiencing and eating fruit in the garden like this is currently attracting people and tourists. Therefore, now that her locality also has a clean vineyard like this, it will be convenient for her to bring relatives and friends to visit, take pictures and enjoy, without having to go far like before.

According to Mr. Thieu, the biggest difficulty he encountered when growing grapes was the technical problem because each plant would be suitable for different soil and climate. In the coming time, Mr. Thieu said he would continue to research techniques, improve designs to have beautiful bunches of grapes, berries and ideal weight for sale on the market.
From the initial results, Mr. Thieu plans to continue expanding the vineyard area.

According to the plan, in the coming time, Mr. Thieu will continue to expand the vineyard area and pay special attention to biological farming techniques to create quality, safe grape bunches to serve tourists visiting and enjoying in the garden as well as supplying to the market.
