Overcoming difficulties to keep the passion for the profession alive.

After more than two months of implementing the policy of reorganizing and streamlining the political apparatus, the Women's Union officials from the former Vinh Phuc and Hoa Binh provinces, who moved to the main headquarters in Viet Tri ward, have overcome initial difficulties to maintain the organization and ensure smooth operations. They have proven that despite changing circumstances, the flame of their profession – their love for women's work – remains burning.

The hardships of the early days in a new land.

Upon arriving at the Phu Tho Provincial Women's Union headquarters, many officials from the former Vinh Phuc and Hoa Binh provinces were taken aback by everything, finding it strange and new. Ms. Bui Thi My, Deputy Head of the Women's Affairs Department, shared: "In the early days of working at the headquarters, I chose to commute daily by shared taxi because my husband is a soldier and rarely home, while I have my 75-year-old mother and two young children at home. I leave home at 5 a.m. every day and don't get home until almost 7 p.m. Traveling nearly 200 km each day, I felt my health couldn't handle it, so I later rented a room to stay in, only returning home once or twice a week. Because my children are still young, I have to hire someone to take them to and from school, and I remind them to eat and sleep by phone at night."

Unlike Ms. My, who rented a room to stay overnight, Ms. Nguyen Thi Kieu Anh, a specialist in the Women's Affairs Department, chose to commute daily. She said: "My house is in Quang Minh commune ( Hanoi ). Before the province merger, I traveled 50km round trip every day. Now that I work at the main office, I have to travel twice that distance." Explaining her reason for commuting daily, Ms. Kieu Anh said: "My child is only a little over 2 years old, so I can't stay overnight. Moving the whole family to the provincial center would also be difficult..."

Not only Ms. My and Ms. Kieu Anh, but all the Women's Union officials faced many difficulties in the early days of working at the new headquarters. However, one thing remained unchanged: their dedication, passionate hearts, and pride in carrying the mission of promoting women's development. Ms. Kha Thi Luan, Vice President of the Provincial Women's Union, affirmed: In the early days of operating the two-tiered local government, despite facing many difficulties, more than 30 Women's Union officials remained close to the grassroots, working day and night, listening and connecting for the development of women.

Overcoming difficulties to keep the passion for the profession alive.

Officials of the Women's Affairs Committee of the Phu Tho Provincial Women's Union regularly exchange information and support each other in their work.

Unity is essential to keep the workflow smooth.

Following the provincial merger policy, the Provincial Women's Union proactively arranged office space for its staff to ensure smooth and efficient operations. According to Ms. Kha Thi Luan, Vice President of the Provincial Women's Union, the Union proactively repaired facilities and arranged offices to provide adequate space and working conditions for its staff. Furthermore, the Union facilitated the provision of a communal canteen for staff lunches. Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong Thuan, a specialist in the Women's Affairs Department, shared: "In the early days of working at the headquarters after arriving from Hoa Binh, the Union's leadership provided us with a lunch canteen at the office, saving us time and ensuring our health. Moreover, our colleagues in Phu Tho were very enthusiastic in supporting us to quickly adapt to the work."

From the very first days of working together, the atmosphere at the Provincial Women's Union headquarters has always been bustling yet full of warmth and camaraderie. Departments and offices coordinate closely, assigning tasks efficiently to avoid work disruptions. Ms. Tran Thuy Anh, Deputy Head of the Women's Affairs Department from Vinh Phuc, said: "When working at the new agency, everything was unfamiliar, but thanks to the sincerity and openness of the team, we quickly integrated. Every day at work, even though we're tired, we still feel warm because everyone treats each other like family."

Initial anxieties were quickly alleviated thanks to the special attention from the Association's leadership. In the early stages, the women regularly inquired about, encouraged, listened to, and promptly addressed their needs and requests, from small matters like purchasing supplies to larger issues such as arranging schools for their children and stabilizing their family lives. Ms. Bui Thi My confided: "The words of encouragement and support from the Association's leadership made us feel like this place is our second home. Despite the difficulties, the passion for our profession will never be extinguished..."

Looking back over the past two months, it's clear that the staff of the Phu Tho Provincial Women's Union have overcome many challenges to ensure smooth operations. They have proven that, despite changing circumstances, the flame of their profession – their love for women's work – remains ever-burning.
