West Ham have begun a comprehensive overhaul. |
Following their first relegation shock in 14 years, West Ham are forced to plan a complete overhaul to balance their finances. According to the English media, West Ham need to raise between £150 and £180 million from player sales this summer. This figure is intended to offset the approximately £100 million revenue gap resulting from the team's relegation from the Premier League to the Championship.
One of the first moves is the possibility of parting ways with striker Niclas Fullkrug. The German forward joined West Ham in the summer of 2024 for a fee of £27 million but has been a major disappointment, scoring only 3 goals for the club. This season, Fullkrug made 8 Premier League appearances without scoring before being loaned to AC Milan in January.
In Italy, the 33-year-old striker's situation is no better, with only one goal in 19 matches. Not being called up to the German national team for the 2026 World Cup further darkens Fullkrug's future.
Sources from Germany indicate that West Ham are considering terminating Fullkrug's contract early or letting him leave for a symbolic fee, despite him having two years remaining on his deal. Venezia and Werder Bremen are reportedly interested in the striker.

Conversely, a squad overhaul has also begun at West Ham. Everton, managed by David Moyes, are looking to sign right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka for around £10 million. This is seen as the opening salvo in West Ham's major squad clear-out in the summer of 2026.
In addition, three other first-team players, Axel Disasi, Adama Traore, and Callum Wilson, will all have their contracts expire next summer. The likelihood of these players renewing their contracts is not considered high.
Mateus Fernandes, Jarrod Bowen, and El Hadji Malick Diouf are also among the names predicted to potentially bring in significant transfer revenue for West Ham.
