Receiving the leaders of the World Health Organization (WHO) Western Pacific region on the afternoon of May 31, General Secretary and President To Lam highly appreciated the organization's role in supporting Vietnam and other countries in improving healthcare capacity and protecting and caring for people's health.

The General Secretary and President expressed their sincere gratitude to the WHO for recognizing Vietnam's efforts and achievements in the fight against the harmful effects of tobacco. They hoped the WHO would continue to support Vietnam in improving the effectiveness of policy development and the organization of the health system to suit the new context, especially in increasing the capacity to respond to future health emergencies. They also requested the WHO to promote traditional medicine alongside modern medicine to increase resources and methods in healthcare and health protection for people in the region and around the world .
The WHO representative highly appreciated Vietnam's proactive approach in developing resolutions on breakthrough solutions to strengthen the protection, care, and improvement of people's health; affirming that it will continue to coordinate and support Vietnam in disease and epidemic prevention and control, improving forecasting and emergency response capabilities; promoting healthy lifestyles, and building an effective and sustainable national health service delivery system, in line with the goal of universal health coverage.
