Chau Thoi Commune organizes communication on legal aid under the National Target Program on New Rural Construction

On the afternoon of October 1, 2025, at the Hall of the People's Committee of Chau Thoi commune, the State Legal Aid Center of Ca Mau province coordinated with the People's Committee of the commune to organize a communication session on legal aid under the National Target Program on New Rural Construction, attracting more than 100 local people to attend.

The activity is organized to help people, especially vulnerable groups, access and benefit from free legal aid policies under the 2017 Law on Legal Aid. According to Article 7 of the Law, people who are eligible for legal aid include: people with revolutionary contributions, the poor, the near-poor, ethnic minorities residing in areas with particularly difficult economic conditions, children, people receiving monthly social benefits, people accused of being minors or people with financial difficulties. These are groups of people whose rights to access justice and equality before the law need to be guaranteed by the State.

At the conference, the working group introduced the basic contents of the 2017 Law on Legal Aid, and disseminated legal regulations related to life such as ho, hui, bieu, phuong according to Decree No. 19/2019/ND-CP. People were also given legal leaflets, directly consulted, answered questions, guided on how to draft applications, legal documents and received requests for legal aid on the spot.

Representatives of the Chau Thoi Commune People's Committee assessed that the communication session had practical significance, helping to raise legal awareness, especially for disadvantaged groups, contributing to building a civilized, democratic, and law-abiding new rural society. The people attending expressed their excitement, highly appreciating the closeness and usefulness of the communication activities on legal aid and wished that the program would continue to be maintained and expanded in the future.

The communication session ended in a lively atmosphere, many questions from the people were satisfactorily answered, thereby contributing to bringing the legal aid policy closer to the people, while supporting Chau Thoi commune to well implement the criteria for meeting the legal access standards according to the National Target Program on New Rural Development.
